“Nice, clean room.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We ended up with a room in the back. The hostess was apologetic, but we loved our room. It was spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable. Linens clean. The staff was friendly and our room was made up nicely every day of our stay. Nicely located with easy MUNI access. Even walking distance to a lot of things. We would stay here again.

Conveniently located in "the crooked street".. walking distance, albeit hilly, to Fishermans Wharf. Great friendly staff, large clean rooms & very comfy beds & plenty of continental breakfast. Would stay here again, no problems.

Room Tip: This hotel faces a busy 3 lane road, so back rooms would be better. We stayed on top floor out back...

So this is one of those hotels that is all it's cracked up to be. The room was clean. There was a little issue with the washroom door not closing properly the first night, but a note on provided card to the front desk that evening and the repair was done while we were out seeing San Francisco the next day. Beds were comfortable, though miniature pillows were a bit odd. The breakfast was on the edge of a 'why bother' but the coffee was decent and there were little pastries, fruit and juice. Yogurt on offer would be a bit better. You can't get a room for near as good a price in any nearby hotel that's as well reviewed. The staff was excellent and the value here is top-notch. We parked the car (parking is cramped but free) and didn't touch it again during our stay. You can walk to some great locations including Fisherman's Wharf from here, and it's on a major street so we bought Municipal (Muni) transit passes and used the trams, streetcars and buses to our heart's content. Major routes let us off within several blocks of the hotel! We know two things-we want to come back to San Francisco (absolutely the best U.S. city we've visited) and we'll stay at this hotel-you just can't beat the value.

Stayed at this hotel with a friend. Good location able to walk to Fisherman's Wharf. Would recommend, room was a good size and bed was comfortable. Several restaurants you can walk to in area. Visited some really neat thrift stores in area also.

I recently stayed here for 11 nights on a business trip. The room I had was 220 - it faces the garden, is very quiet, has a king bed and a little desk. Although the property is a bit tired, it was clean, the staff was friendly and very helpful. The breakfast served is pretty nice - fresh pastries, bananas and apples, orange juice and good, strong coffee. Everyone sort of gathers around the couches in the lobby where the food is, but up on the 3rd floor is a nice eating area with an outdoor seating that has a view of the GG Bridge! Every time I went there, it was empty. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in SF, this would be a good choice. Walking distance to Cow Hollow for restaurants and shopping, literally 5 blocks from the famed Lombard curvy street and you can also walk down to Fisherman's Wharf.

Room Tip: Be aware that the rooms that face the street are loud, some of the rooms have no view as they face a...

Great hotel if traveling by car. Free parking .Older rooms but clean. Friendly helpful staff. Hotel location was great. Walk to trendy shops, restaurants. Not the upscale hotels in downtown SF, but a quiet place to sleep. Would stay there again.

We were staying the long weekend on July 4th so you can imagine the price of hotels in San Francisco was ridiculous. Buena Vista was a less expensive option in a good location. We walked to the nearby sights of fisherman's wharf, the marina, lombard street etc. Got buses easily enough to places further out.

My minimal requirements for a hotel are 2 queen beds, clean rooms and bathroom, wifi and a neighbourhood i feel safe in. This hotel passed all those requirements. Rooms could definitely do with update but were clean so I was happy.

Positives - wifi, clean spacious rooms, good location, friendly responsive staff, free breakfast (not great but kids liked it)

negatives - key to room played up throughout our stay, breakfast was very very basic (some average pastries and some 'past its best' fruit) and the ice machine outside our door was a little noisy.

Room Tip: ask for a room not facing lombard street - we did and I couldn't hear traffic.
