“great location, worn and dirty”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

This hotel is in a great location, at Lombard and Gough, walkable to the Marina, Union Street, Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, and Chinatown. We had a spacious two-room suite that was reasonably priced and had good views of rooftops and trees. However, overall the motel was not well kept. It was worn and dirty, especially in the hallways and elevator (the room was pretty clean, but quite worn). The third-floor lounge and terrace were dirty and depressing, trash in the corners. The staff seemed tense and unhappy. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, still not ready an hour later, and desk and cleaning staff argued in our presence about whose fault it was. This set the tone for our stay, making us pretty uncomfortable overall. I would fault owners or management, since the unhappiness seemed widespread. Too bad. This motel has lots of potential.

Room Tip: The family suite is a good deal and very spacious. Some traffic noise but not too bad considering i...

What a wonderful property. Located on Lombard Street in the Marina District it is located in a mainly residential district. Waking up and seeing the Golden Gate Bridge through our window was a delight. The property is very well maintained and the staff is anxious to help. Continental breakfast was plentiful and served croissants, muffins, and danish pastries from a fabulous bakery and the international travelers which filled the lobby really enjoyed the food, juices, coffee and such which were constantly kept refilled and were fresh. In the very clean room the linens were fresh, towels were fluffy, and the beds very comfortable. They made a great choice in soaps and shampoos. On the downside, in the morning from 8-9:30 the elevator is in constant use so if you want to make a quick trip down to the lobby to grab some breakfast, take the stairs. As an added benefit the bus stop is just 2 blocks away that will take you directly to Fisherman's Warf. Also, available to all there is a comfortable area on the third floor with couches, chairs and tables where you can enjoy the views along with an outdoor deck with table and chairs where you can relax or enjoy breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for the third floor rooms for a better view.

San Francisco is ridiculously expensive, especially if you want to be within walking distance of Fisherman's Warfe. This place is fairly cheap for San Francisco, and is within walking distance if Fisherman's Warfe (if you don't mind a few hills) and the trendy Marina district bars. Parking is free, too, unlike other hotels which charge up to $50 a day for parking!
However, unless you sleep like you're in a coma, you probably don't want to stay here unless you get a room in the back, facing away from Lombard Street. The window's aren't double glazed, and it's a constantly busy street, so it'll keep you awake all night. Walking down Lombard, it seemed that most motels were also single glazed, so I'd say the same applies for more or less all of them. We complained after our first sleepness night and were given a room at the rear straight away, meaning that this quiet room must have been available when we checked in. I wish they'd given it to us from the off...
All that said, if you do get a room at the rear, or if you're a heavy sleeper, you'll get a decent sized, clean room with free parking for half the price of most places around the Warfe. The corridors are tired and worn, but you don't sleep in them, so who cares?!

Room Tip: Make sure it doesn't face Lombard Street.

We choose this place because breakfast was included. It's a lie ! There is no breakfast place. They just put a coffe machine, some bananas, and a few pastries in the lobby and they call it breakfast ! It's a shame. The guy at the reception was rude. Not even "welcome", just "ID and credit card please". (Yes he said "please" that the maximum of courtesy he knows !). The worst was yet to come. The room was dirty. Just walk bare foot a few minuts in you room and look at your feet and you will know. Just look at the windows and you will know also. Last but not least, it was a very noisy place and th windows didn't help to damp noise. We'll never come back.

The hotel is a 20 minute walk to Fishermans Wharf. The rooms were disgusting... dirty and unkept. There was garbage under the sink in the bathroom. It almost seemed as if the room was not cleaned. There were scuff marks on the walls and dirt in the corners. The parking is under the building and the spots are so small, your car might not fit. It was so bad that we left and went to the Holiday Inn at Fishermans Wharf! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT stay here. There are MUCH better options, closer to Fisherman's Wharf, and almost the same price!

Room Tip: Stay at the Holiday Inn at Fishermans Wharf!

This was good motel for the price. Didnt really know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, good location (close to Fisherman's Warf). I booked it through their website. The only draw back was the very tight parking, but when the parking lot was full, the front desk guy let us double park on the lot and they kept the key in case it needed to be moved. I didn't have their breakfast so I can't comment on that. Overall I liked it.

Great location, rooms were tidy and kind of clean (could do with a good scrub).
A little to expensive for what you get but as I said - love the location. A hike up Lombard and your at the top of the Crooked Street

Room Tip: Next time I would stay a little bit closed to Hyde Street for better access to the Cable Car for tra...
