“Love it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Been going to Kabuto for years. It's small and not fancy, but food is great. Always order from special menu only, and try their inventive creations. Our favorites are Valentine, Hamachi Pear, Ono Grape and much more.

“I'm sure there's better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

As other's have stated, it is a hole in the wall restaurant. Best in the city... doubtful. This is a case where several glowing reviews got us in the door, but this is not a place we would return to.

The infamous wall of fame makes an appearance here (Winners of some Zagat award from 2005-2007). There should be a rule that if it's been 3 years since you won that award, you should take them all down as it's now a wall of shame.

The food was good overall taste-wise but presentation was a bit sloppy. I suppose this could be forgiven as Kabuto isn't trying to be a trendy restaurant but perhaps a neighbourhood mainstay.

The waitress dropped the bill off while we were still eating - were they not enjoying our patronage? Thanks for dining with us, now get out!!

“Dragon Roll”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Amazing sushi restaurant, that can also be found in the "Lonely Planet".
A bit out of the city center, but surely worth the ride.
After so many years I still remember their "Dragon Roll".

“Really the best Sushi in the City.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

Yes you have heard this a million times, but in fact it's true. The wait can be long, go mid week. The specials are really exceptional. The staff is efficient and competent. The fish is to die for. Stay with some of the chef's specials and "don't use soy sauce" or you will ruin them (but they will remind you). We go at least twice a month and would go more if we had time.

“Hole-in-the-wall Japanese place promises a universe of flavours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

The sushi and sashimi at this place is out of this world! They import a great variety of fresh fish, including the more expensive tuna belly, and prepare it with great precision. Make a reservation because otherwise you won't get a seat (or you might get one close to the door, which can be quite cold during winter).
