“7 teenage girls”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2011

For my daughter's 18th birthday we decided to escape to San Francisco. The thought of 3 separate hotel rooms was not appealing. I came upon the Fairmont Heritage Place and immediately booked. A very good decision on my part. My peace of mind was due to the safe and secure feeling from the moment we walked into the lobby. There was no way anyone was going to get through unnoticed! That was really comforting especially with 7 teenage girls!
The rooms were spacious, the beds, extra comfortable, the bathrooms were large, the kitchen was beautiful with top of the line appliances and so much room for all the snacks we brought up, the staff was super friendly and the location was top notch.
The girls walked everywhere. Hyde Street cable car station was a block away, Alcatraz was an easy mile walk, the complimentary car service was a great bonus and the girls enjoyed the drivers because they were " friendly and cute", the included continental breakfast was convenient and perfect for their later morning starts and most importantly, the Ghiradelli ice cream bar was open until past midnight and was in the same building!! Oh, the girls also loved sitting outside on the Mustard Terrace with the amazing firepit and the gorgeous view of Alcatraz and the waterfront.
The girls were so impressed with the hotel and couldn't stop gushing about how they enjoyed being spoiled and didn't ever want to leave!

This hotel is an unbelievable combination of apartment style stay, small boutique feel and classic hotel service. The location is wonderful - a block from Fisherman's Wharf and within site of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, it's vacationer's dream. Ghirardelli Square is nice with a host of restaurants to choose from. The room was like staying in a tastefully modern one-bedroom apartment that was beyond comfortable. The bathroom is large and the shower is luxurious. A large furnished balcony overlooking the Square was a great plus. The lobby consists of two desks manned by hotel staff that couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. The hotel even offers a complimentary car service to take you out and pick you up. We had no problem using the hotel as a starting point to walk to the various neighborhoods of Frisco. If you desire, there's a cable car stop nearby. Once the fitness center is complete, this hotel will be perfect. We wish we could find a hotel like this in all our travels.

I have stayed at the Fairmont Ghiradelli twice. Once with my parents and once with friends. We just live 30 miles south of San Francisco, so coming here is just a fun way to get out of the house for the weekend without really planning a big trip. We love that it is dog friendly.

Our first weekend there, we attended a wine class nearby. The Fairmont was great - providing car service to the class was so handy. The rooms are perfect for two couples as we each had our own bedrooms and bathrooms. It is also nice to have a full kitchen, living room, and washer/dryer. You are able to really make yourself at home.

The second weekend, we had a dinner party for 8. The Fairmont hooked us up with a personal chef. She worked with us in advance to create a menu that suited the omnivores and vegetarians in the group. The food was great and the whole process could not have been easier. It was wonderful to be able to entertain our friends.

The staff at the Fairmont is fantastic. No request is too much trouble. I will be back on a regular basis.

Stayed with family over spring break. Staff extremely helpful and attentive. Had worked with concierge even prior to arrival to book travel from SFO, and, entire experience was smooth. Two bedroom suite more than enough room for family of 5, and, it was very clean with soft beds. Close to Fisherman's wharf, but, also distant enough to avoid significant traffic. Hotel car helped get to restaurants without problem, and, drivers were very helpful. When plane delayed, staff promptly helped arrange extra night's lodging without problem - really helped decrease travel anxiety. If/when we return to SF, will definitely plan visiting again.

We booked a one bed bay view apartment for the first stop on a month long American tour, and had fairly high expectations, having previously stayed at Fairmont properties. However, a month later we still have a glow from a warm and wonderful stay.
The apartment was exactly as portrayed on the web site. We were on the 3rd floor looking over the square and rooftops to the Bay and Alcaltraz. Really recommend the bay view - the apartment was very quiet with a balcony that we used daily to watch the cold water swimmers lapping the cove in front. When that got too cold we returned to the gas log fire and cosy lounge.
The location was terrific, with bus routes directly in front and the cable car terminal at the back of the Square. We used the hotel car only once, to commence a walk atop Pacific Heights, but the ride was like catching a lift from a friend. Staff are one of the highlights of this Hotel and seem genuinely pleased to see each guest, and all act as if they know you well. All of the hotel areas were spotlessly clean and we had the impression that l the staff enjoyed their work and chatting with guests.
A light breakfast is served each morning and my only only wish while staying would be that a tray be available to take breakfast back up to the apartment. The dining area was pleasant but after late nights many guests carried plates of food back to their rooms, and a tray would have been handy. We also joined other guests for wine and cheese on several occasions (4-5pm daily) - very good wine and cheese and knowledgable
staff.
The lack of a restaurant was not a problem, with 3 restaurants in the Hotel square, Fisherman's Wharf only 5 minutes away with other dining options along the way. Breakfast options are limited if you wish to start the day early but the Hotel breakfast was available from 6am.Only regret was that we didnt avail ourselves of the Hotel offer to have groceries in the apartment when we arrived. The nearest Safeway is approx 15 minutes walk away so we didnt bother to cook, a shame as the kitchen is fully equiped, and the occasional hot breakfast would have been good.
All in all, this was a great stay and one of the highlights of the trip.

I went for the weekend wiht my husband. we were given an upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite on the 2nd floor with a city view. The service at this hotel is above reproach. This was my second time here and the concierge and the manager both greeted me by name and actually seemed sincere in their pleasure at seeing me again. The rooms are lovely and huge. The complimenary breakfast is very nice. The car is available to take you anywhere you want to go within 3 miles of the hotel and was really appreciated by us. We used it to take us to North Beach, Pier 39 and the Disney Museum in the Presidio. Nice touch. Will definitely stay here again.

We had read a lot about this hotel before booking so I knew what to expect. The two bedroom suite we had was gorgeous and very spacious. It had a kitchen, living area and even a small washer and dryer. It was very comfortable for our family of four. The only downside was it had a terrible view of a parking lot. There is also no restaurant on the property but there are several nearby. The continental breakfast consisted of delicious scones, muffins and pastries along with fresh fruit and yogurt. It was fine for us and very enjoyable. This is a condo which is being sold as timeshare so its not your usual hotel but it is a beautiful upscale property in a great location. We thoroughly enjoyed it although it costs quite a bit to stay there. The city view was not really worth the price because of the. Iew of the parking lot. Perhaps I would have been more satisfied with the water view rooms. All in all, a very pleasant stay with very helpful staff in a beautiful property.
