We stayed at the Touchstone this September for 2 nights. Killer locale, super friendly staff who go out of their way to accommodate all your wishes, very clean rooms and great prices. This will be my # 1 choice when I go back to visit next time. Thanks!

Touchstone hotel is a good choice if you're looking for a decent, cheap place to stay around Union square for a few days, assuming you'll be on the road most of the time.. Small but clean room, the wi-fi can be tricky and breakfast is served at the coffee place right next to the reception. There is also a 24h restaurant at the corner and quite a few other options in the area. Parking is around the corner, but don't forget to ask the friendly reception to stamp your receipt,
so you can get a discount. I saw many people mentioning here the homeless people around, but I can tell it's not really a shaddy or threatening concept, just some poor, homeless people walking around and sometimes asking for a quarter. Nevertheless, good value for money in Union square.

I was amazed by how convenient this hotel is. It truly brings you all you need for a short leisure/business visit to SanF, and for the price you pay, this is a rather not-so-easy-to-find kind of place. I could start by how friendly the staff is, always welcoming you with a smile and doing their job without any significant flaws that I've noticed. The hotel seems really safe since the front door is locked at night and you can open it anytime with you room card. Anyways the area is absolutely safe, with a all-stylish building (I guess a classy hotel) right in front of you, with the limos parked outside and so. When I looked at the window with such a nice view to Geary St., I thought about how much do they pay to stay there in comparison with I how much was I paying for the night. The room was better that I thought it would be, incredibly cosy and clean, with a VERY comfortable bed. This place has FREE wireless all over the hotel, even has a restaurant and a bar/bakery (really nice!!) where you will have a discount of 25% if booked a room.. In one of the best locations in town, I cannot doubt that for this price range (shockingly low for what you pay for the night in this city) this is one, if not the best, of hotels in town. Go for it, this one's for real.

The Touchstone is just that. It is a touchstone for you to leave your bags ...and later go to sleep while in San Francisco. It is not a destination hotel. I booked it here because I spend very little time in a hotel and the price was really excellent for San Fran.

My room was really small. In fact, one of the concerns i had was that it didn't even have a full length mirror. Probably wouldn't fit! It was very clean but definitely could use a coat of paint. Lots of scrapes and marks on the walls. Bathroom was tiny but shower was hot and so no complaints there.

Bed was super comfortable and the first night i slept great. I had read reviews about the noise but quite honestly, noise doesn't usually bother me. The telling factor was the ear plugs provided in the room. The second night there was a "drum concert" on the street with people banging garbage cans. This lasted over two hours. I realize this is not the hotel's fault but it is something to consider if you don't have the luxury of sleeping in and need a full night's sleep.

Free wi-fi is provided in the rooms but was not in service my second day. Diner adjoined to hotel was pretty good and i enjoyed the 25% discount.

My overall opinion of this hotel is it is Average and that's not bad. It's good if you are a tourist and just need a place to shower and sleep.
