Recently on a trip to San Francisco to reunite with old friends, I was fortunate enough to discover the Parker Guest House. It actually is two Turn of the Century mansions that were renovated to form one property. The main house, built in the early 1900's is beautifully decorated and brought to modern standards, but the owners were able to retain the elegance and charm of the period. Each room is beautifully decorated and cozy. Mine overlooked the garden area complete with quaint outdoor areas with couches and fountains.
Perhaps the most outstanding part about the Parker Guest House is the staff. After a long day in Los Angeles and a flight to San Francisco, I was welcomed with a big smile and a hug. It is a rare thing when establishments make you feel that welcome. from early morning till late at night everyone working there bent over backwards to make sure that my stay was as pleasant as possible.
While waiting to meet up with friends, I had a chance to walk the area. The Parker Guest House is only a short walk to the heart of the Castro, and is on the main trolly line that runs clear to the Embacadero. Only a Block from fabulous restaurants, local shops, and clubs you are surrounded by the flavor of this eclectic area. They say Location Location Location, and all of that is true, but a hotel, even as charming as the Parker Guest House, is nothing unless it is accompanied with and incredible staff.
On all future trips to this remarkable city, I will return again and again to the Parker Guest House. I have found a small gem in this wonderful city. My best to the staff and everyone there for making this a most delightful trip indeed.
