“Luxury in the heart of Union Square”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

San Francisco is a difficult city to drive in. It was wonderful to have valet parking (for a surcharge) and step into a charmed, historic hotel. The staff were wonderful and caring. The 4pm sherry and hot tea was delightful. The rooms were small but spectacular. We had a corner room with a view of Union Square and the sound of the musician playing bagpipes wafted up to our room. The beds were wonderful, I've never slept so well. Would have missed the coffeemaker, in the dresser drawer, but there was a coffee station in the hall on our floor as well. I've raved so much about my experience that our grown girls want to make a trip to San Francisco to recreate the experience. The Bart Station is within walking distance, the Cable Car is on the corner. We rode the Cable Car to Fisherman's Wharf. We walked from the hotel to Chinatown. There is a historic restaurant around the corner, Sears, that serves dollar sized pancakes that my Mom had when she was a girl. I highly recommend this Hotel!

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room if possible. There is no air conditioning, only a ceiling fan but the windows...

Have just stayed for 3 nights , would recommend. It is in a great location very central to most things . The staff were very helpful and friendly , rooms were clean and beds comfy . We booked this hotel through trip advisor and we're not disappointed.

My girlfriend and I decided to spend a day in the city and Christmas shop, and spend the night. Neither of us had heard of this hotel. To our surprise, it was quite charming, great location, small room, but very comfy beds. Very reasonable for the location. We arrived 3 hours before check-in, only wanted to valet our car, but Vincent said our room was also ready! Room had a small frig, which is always nice. Hotel offered sherry and tea early evening and coffee and tea on a couple floors in the morning. Staff was very nice, considerate and helpful.

Room Tip: Our room was on top floor, but still no view...but that was OK!

Stayed at this hotel for 4 days (late November 2014) it is very centrally located near Union square, Macy's and other shopping outlets and a couple of small restaurants.

The hotel had a tasteful decor, was clean and the day staff were very attentive and courteous - however after arriving late 11.30 pm - and going straight to bed, I did not appreciate being woken up by the night concierge at 1:30 am to tell me that my credit card would not allow a $75 deposit for incidentals that I MAY use ..... NOT !!!

Note my accommodation had been paid for in full and well in advance, so this could have waited til morning.

The next day I also found the room had no independent air conditioning, only two windows that only opened slightly and a ceiling fan.

Overall despite the central location and surrounded by the great city of San Francisco for the price It was average.

Room Tip: If you are looking for a central location this is it

The hotel isin a great location for shopping, chinatown and transportation. However, this area does not have a great selection of restaurants. Best to jump in a cab if you want more of an interesting selection. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean, the bed comfortable. However, slamming doors and noise from the hall can be quite loud. Walls not very soundproof.
There is no breakfast but they do offer coffee in the morning on the 9th and 11th floors that you can take back to your room. Not great, but better than nothing to get you going. There are many breakfast places just down the street. The personnel is very friendly and helpful and the building, which has always been a lodge, is quite interesting.

The rooms were a tad small but very clean! Bed was not very comfortable..... But it was a super cute place with lots of character right off of Union square!! We stayed on Thanksgiving day and the staff really took take of us! We would totally stay there again! If I had know a head of time we might have booked a show... They have a live theater on the 2nd floor!

This hotel is centrally located. A block away from the main union square area (ice skating rink, Macys, etc). However, its about 4 blocks from the Bart coming from the airport. Which is still not that bad of a walk, just something to think about when you have luggage. The hotel is decent, not the best, yet not the worst I've ever stayed in. The rooms are small and not a lot of room when sharing it with others. It was not my first time in San Francisco so I was aware of how small the rooms would be in the city. We left our luggage with the staff before we checked in and after we checked out, they were always very kind. I would stay again for the location.

Room Tip: I would not recommend this room for 4 people, unless you don't mind sharing 2 double beds and be...
