Love, Love! Love the piers in San Francisco. We stayed at Holiday Inn Express on North Point St, but there's many more hotels in the area. So we were two blocks from pier. Great shops and restaurants, music and people milling around. Pier 39 is a must for shops, restaurants and the sea lions. Stopped for a drink on the 2nd floor one afternoon. Sat outside and just watched all the people, ferry boats moving in and out and view of Alcatraz. Amazing spot. Piers 41/43 have lots of restaurants and seafood options. If you like seafood, you won't be disappointed. From full course dinner to carry out fried poppers to fresh fish, it's all there. Great atmosphere. Lots of shops to pick up souvenirs and knick knacks. Easy to access by public transportation if your not saying in the Wharf but make sure you get down there.
