Owner description: Wine Country Tour Shuttle, with its Super High 94% TripAdvisor Rating Score operates from San Francisco to either Napa or Sonoma. We encourage wine lovers to go on both our Wine Country Tours because the different wine regions are so uniquely different. Our Napa Experience Tour visits 4 wineries and has a picnic lunch and a 50-minute relaxing ferry cruise included. See the reviews below to see how well the picnic lunch and the ferry cruise is so well received. The Sonoma Experience Tour (local favorite tour) is new for us and has great reviews below because we picked 2 fantastic wineries, plus we put together a walking map of Sonoma square where guests can get one free pour at each location. Wine Country Tour Shuttle received the 2013 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award.

“Wine Country Tour was wonderful and worth it!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2008

My husband and I just went on this tour while we were in SF for our 20th wedding anniversary, and we would highly recommend it!! We met in the morning at the Ferry Bldg, and we rode a nice airconditioned bus. The best part of the tour was our tour guide, Orion-sp??--sounds like O'Ryan!!!!! He was very informative and educated everyone on the tour about wine, and the sights around the area. He definitely made everyone feel comfortable, and by the end of the day, everyone seemed to be friends and really had a good time. We visited 4 wineries-Domain Chandon which was sparkling wine--Mark gave us a tour of the winery and tastings, and he was fun and did a good job! Then we went to V. Sattui which was our favorite winery because we had great wine tastings, and we had great food for lunch. The cheeses, fruit, and sandwiches were a great lunch and the picnic area is beautiful. We visited Rutherford Ranch, and they did a nice job, and finally, we visited the Andretti Winery which was very beautiful, and had good wine. At the end of the tour, we rode the bus back to Vallejo which is a small town in the bay, and we rode the ferry back to SF. We could not ask for a more special day for our 20th anniversary! If you taste at all of the wineries, it will cost you $35, but it was well worth it to visit such nice wineries!! You get what you pay for with this trip I believe. Truly Orion made the day, and was so easy to approach and ask questions. He was a wealth of information!!

“Great Tour, but...some words to remember!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2008

This was an excellent tour, we had great fun facts from our tour guide Kim! Rutherford Ranch has by far the best wine! V. Sattui is busy and stressful, although they do give you a free lunch. Signello's wine was the worst of all. They acted like they were sorry you were there and the wine was horrible. But, the endless pool was enchanting.

Things to know:

1) Bring cash. They do not tell you that you'll be charged for the wine tastings in advance.

2) No one has a wine opener so, if you are planning to drink while in the shuttle, you'd better have one long tongue to get that cork out.

Elvin was wonderful, the tour was great. I do recommend it.

“Great Napa Valley wine tour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2008

We selected this tour because of the small size of the group that actually goes on the tour, and because of the wineries that it visits. We all met at the famous Ferry building where we boarded a very clean, comfortable shuttle bus. As an added bonus to the Napa trip, Chris, our tour guide talked about all the city sites as we passed them on the way to Napa. Chris is a native of San Francisco and was able to give us good local insight into some of the attractions and historical areas that we passed. The first stop on the tour was a great little winery named V.Sattui. V.Sattui has a deli inside in which you can purchase good food (fresh sandwiches, fresh baked bread, a huge selection of fine cheeses, etc.), you'll want to stock up on some items so that you can enjoy them at the picnic after your tastings. While we tasted the wines Chris and Sunny (Sunny was the driver, very personable, also gave me some great tips on where to go that night in San Francisco) set up some tablecloths on the picnic tables on the grounds of the winery. Being a rather small group everyone was social, especially after the wine tastings, this made the trip that much better. Next stop was Domaine Chandon, I've never been a fan of sparkling wine (re: Champagne) but the tour offers you a lot of insight into the making of the wines and shows the inner workings of a winery, from the different varietes of grapes to the double fermentation process of sparkling wines, very interesting. At the other two wineries the tastings were done as a group, and were very well done with the pourer explaining what makes each of the wines we were tasting unique. There are additional tasting fees at the wineries, total fees additional if you taste at all four was $ 35.00. You will get a $ 10.00 coupon for the deli at V.Sattui with your tour so that cancels out tasting fees at that winery. The Ferry ride back is also great, Chris will continue to tell you about the attractions as you pass. Overall I would highly recommend this tour for anybody looking to experience Napa wineries.

“See Napa Valley Wine Country”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2008

My wife and I signed up for a tour of the wine country run by the Wine Country Tour Shuttle and enjoyed the experience. This tour bus leaves from the Embarcadero and drives to the Napa Valley where there are visits arranged to four wineries. Our favorite was the large, well manicured Chandon facility although every one of the wineries was interesting. The final one, the Andretti Winery, was co- owned by the American race driver Mario Andretti.

The wine tasting option provided a chance to sample a wide range of California wines in a nice setting. The tour guide, Kim, was a delight. Her theater experience and sparkling personality kept things upbeat even when our bus engine overheated due to record high temperatures. We were provided with limos to the ferry and the tour company displayed class under what must have been a trying time for them.

The ferry ride from Sausalito back to SF was a nice way to end the day.

Avoid weekend tours if possible as they are much more crowded than ones during the week.
