I know - you hear "Cable Car Museum" and your first impulse is to stifle a yawn, but this will fool you.
This is a small museum which includes the actual winding room for all the cables which operate beneath SF, as well as a charming history of the importance of the cable car in the development of the city.
Keep in mind that cable cars exist in no other city on earth, and this is the only place you can absorb the history while the cables whizz by you (at a steady 9.5 mph!).
Take an hour to see this place - the price (free admission) is right and I think you will be very pleasantly surprised!
