“Quirky and fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

Really lovely bar, with great staff and a really interesting atmosphere. Well made drinks and good pacing. It's not as expensive as we were expecting either.

A must see for all lovers of cocktails and drinks.

“Unique experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

We were told about this place on a walking tour we did and went back and made a reservation. It is reservation only and you get a password like the old speakeasies. The cocktails were a little on the pricey side but the whole experience was great. We also went through the library door....
It is a one off experienceand worth doing

“I would recommend this to anyone!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

We absolutely loved this bar!

We had a 6pm reservation for an hour and a half, however as the bar opens at 6, most of the people in this timeslot we left waiting on the street (and a VERY dodgy street at that) for 10-15 minutes. Once in however, we were blown away by the quality of service and the quality of the drinks. We'd heard a few complaints that the drinks take a while to appear, but that wasn't the case for us - 5 minutes max.

I had the Pink Lady (an egg white based one) and the Citizen Kane (a tequila based one). Now I don't even like tequila, and hadn't realised that it was one of these (my bad, didn't know the categories), but I fell in love with both of these drinks. I would recommend both of these, and in this order!

My husband (a beer drinking man) had a Cowboy-something and a beer based one and loved both of those too.

If you want to visit, I'd perhaps suggest either a later time, or arriving in a group in order to feel safer. Either way, this visit is a must on your next trip to SF!

ps, coming from Australia, these drinks were surprisingly cheap! (around $12)

“Feels like an insider's discovery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013 via mobile

No sign on the the street, just an unmarked door they open just enough for us to give our password, which we got by "becoming a member" online then making a reservation. The drink menu was basically three courses. I really only liked the first drink I chose, which was fruity and light. The others were VERY strong. The three drink courses were about $30 for each of us, and all-and-all, the coolness of the speakeasy idea made it worth the cost. I'd definitely recommend it.

“Great place to come and unwind”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

This prohibition era themed speakeasy is the perfect place to come and relax. The drinks are pricey however; the experience is like no other and you get what you pay for with the drinks. Dont come here expecting your average bar drink special and be sure to make a reservation.
