We enjoyed our trip to Kabuki Springs emensely! We manage to book a reservation for Friday night at 9pm for 2 50-minute massages, so we could be sure we would not have to wait to enter the communal bath. We called around 7pm that night, as we were unexpectedly in Japantown for the night and only that night. It was totally worth the $218 it cost for the two massages an gratuity. We got into the Springs at 7:45 for only $7 each because we were staying at the Kabuki Hotel a couple of blocks away and that's one of the perqs of the hotel. Anyway, it's a lovely space. The locker room was a bit disheveled when we got there due to patrons who can't seem to throw their towels and robes into the provided hampers. Lots of amenities are provided - tea, cucumbers, lemons, Ice water, salt to rub down with, lovely body wash, shampoo and conditioner, facial cleanser and toner, body lotion, mouthwash, combs. The communal bath is a large, fully tiled, windowless room with a cold pool, hot pool, traditional Asian seated showers, western standup showers, a very large sauna, and a large steam room. The main room also has benches for lying, and chairs for relaxing - all in cedar wood. There are various pieces of Asian art and candles. The room is very dark. A significant improvement would be skylights - but as its under the Japan Center that would be impractical. Overall a little too dark for my bathing tastes. Some women had on bathing suits or undies, while most of us were nude or covered with towels out of the tubs. It was women only. On Gender specific days it's clothing optional, bathing suits required on mixed gender day. Maybe it's because I am from Portland where nudity is common or the gender politics are more obvious, but I think it is quite silly to require people to wear bathing suits at a facility like this if they don't want to- regardless of the gender specified. Perhaps they could have children's times that required clothing, or specific no-nudity times for people with issues, but grown folks can bathe together nude regardless of gender. Our massages were perfect - the best we've ever had. Gabriel was my therapist and he is truly gifted. If you have a chance to book with him don't pass it up. Overall, it was clean, friendly, comfortable. Not too stuffy and formal, but with sufficient luxuries. Truly a night to remember!
