“Very Good Food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2011

On our first day in Boston - we spotted a real old fashioned diner while driving through Quincy. It was the original of the species. Whacky chef, bar stools full of regulars, soft seat booths and tacky decor. We arrived at the end of service at 2.30pm - and the place was full.

We had a BLT, chicken salad club sandwich (best sandwich I have ever eaten in my life), a burger and a Swiss cheese and ham sandwich plus coffees. We were all very impressed with the food - it was so fresh and tasty. We were left down badly however with the temperature of the food. 3 of the dishes were left sitting on the counter - while the burger was cooking. The result was, all 3 sandwiches were cold - this wasnt a major problem but the accompanying fries were also cold - not nice. Shame. The bill was $32.

Friendly service and food was very good. First time trying "Irish Breakfast" and not disappointed.

“The best breakfast diner bar none, and the cook does ballet at the grill!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2011

Been going to the Wheelhouse Diner for the past twenty- (COUGH-COUGH) years.... It just keeps getting better. Best to sit at the counter to watch the grilll man/musician do his thang. When it gets really busy, he is moving so fast it's a blur and the only thing I could think of was ballet. He never bumps into any of the wait staff and somehow everyone gets their breakfast within minutes. Sometimes you have to wait in line at the door, and even tho there are only something like 7 tables, it's a real fast turnover. I love the poached egg with hollandaise and hubby likes the 2 eggs over medium with homefries and raisin toast. Fast & good. Try it!
