“Interesting Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Sitting a top an old quarry, you’ll find the Quincy Marriott standing sentinel over a business park.

The hotel itself is lovely: clean beds, tidy bathrooms!

Breakfast here on the concierge floor were ok.

Located just south of Boston, the Quincy Marriott is great for doing business in the South of Boston area. The traffic going north into the city looks a nightmare. (Witnessed it twice recently.)

Recommended for a comfortable stay south of Boston, especially if you plan to visit Adams National Historical Park!

I usually recommend the Hilton on Broad Street when I stay in Boston. This time it was different. A relative who is living in Quincy was having surgery at Quincy Medical. We stayed there for 2 nights. The good news and bad news: it's a cookie cutter Marriot hotel that is immaculate and the staff is great. You will have to pay for parking, but here's the deal.

The room was perfectly clean, modern, and comfortable. We even ate at the restaurant and the food was reasonably good. The staff was what really made my stay special.

Now about the location and Boston. Do not believe anyone who tells you can talk to the T from the hotel. We had a car and we saw people trying to walk up the long hill from the T stop with suit cases.

We got a very cheap price for senior's rate so we chose this hotel...it was a nice, clean room..no problems there. Some issues: You do pay for parking but it is easy to park (although Saturday it was packed). You have to use the bell man if you need to move belongings with a trolley. I prefer a room with a fridge at least ...if not a microwave...or a real coffee pot. There is only a one-cup coffee maker....and no free coffee in the lobby etc. There is a hefty charge for Wifi in the room and for the business center! Never heard of such a thing in all the hotels we have stayed...it is privatized...and you cannot use the computers or print anything (except a boarding pass) without paying with a credit card. Prices in the restaurants are not so hot...but if you have a car there are many great restaurants in Quincy (try Alba on Hancock street if you want a fine place) and the Hingham Shipyards (stores and restaurants and cinema) are about 20 minutes drive away. Try Alma Nove if you want top end...Union Fish and Seafood had great raw bar and fish specials ...fabulous. Back to the hotel....the fitness center is terrific...lots of machines, free weights and weight machines. There is a nice washroom attached ...with shower and vanity area with hair dryer. The hotel staff were all very nice. Had we not stayed on the weekend...might have gone for the concierge floor...did not pay to go on the weekends when they do not have extra services. Another post here said they should have a hair dryer in the room.... we were frustrated the first day because we did not see one....but apparently it is hanging in the closet with the ironing board!

Booked non-refundable weekend rate of $129.00. Parking was $12.00 but it was half the cost of staying in downtown Boston. Plenty of parking, hotel was recently renovated and looks great. Was crowded due to weddings but staff seemed to handle it pretty well. Check-in took 30 seconds, Marriott Gold put on concierge floor but since lounge is closed weekends, we received free continental breakfast vouchers. Rooms are standard 300 sq feet, I had request and received a mini-fridge from email Marriott sends 5 days before arrival. Bed comfortable, plenty of outlets, bathroom nice but tub very slippery so use the bathtub mat.

Other TA reviews said restaurant has great all you can eat Prime Rib special on weekends, at under $20.00 it’s a real bargain, I couldn’t even finish the first slice. Breakfast next morning was crowded, was only expecting to get continental but server said coupon was good for entire buffet. This hotel will be my first choice if I need a place right outside the city.

I recently stayed at the hotel for 3 nights during a business trip. The hotel is very clean, good location for my purpose, free shuttle to the subway and a mall across the highway.

Good breakfast choices and surprisingly very good in house restaurant for dinner.

The only drawback.... no hair dryer in the bathroom.

Great rooms, comfortable beds & a wonderful staff! What more can you say? It is only 12 or so miles outside of Boston but you have to be smart about when you go into Boston. Avoid the rush hour times & you can be there in 20 minutes or less. Will definitely go back in the future!

Room Tip: Food at the hotel was pretty good, we had breakfast & lunch there!

The place is exactly what you would expect from a typical Marriott. The exception is the outstanding service in the Concierge Lounge on the 9th floor, thanks to Suet. She is offers excellent hospitality and if I had a business in Boston, I'd try to steal her away from them.
My only complaints with the hotel is that there was no minibar/fridge in the room and that the Platinum amenity $10 voucher was not able to be used in the bar for alcoholic beverages. I don't understand that as the amenity offered used to be wine/beer. If you stay on the Concierge level, you get free breakfast/appetizers and coffee/soft drinks, so who needs the voucher if you can't spend it on alcohol? Also wish their parking was less expensive or, better yet- free.
