“nice hotel, but shuttle service????”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2007

we stayed at the marriott quincy for one week.
UPSIDE
it is a newer hotel with exceptionally fast check in, about 1 minute.the lobbey is very nicely decorated and includes a free business center with email, printer, fax...
the pub had very good food at reasonable prices and the service was quick.
the pool and fitness center were clean and never overcrowded.
the room was clean and had all the expected ammenities.
the maid service was always very good and they had no problem accomodating the varying times we left the room in the mornings.the beds were VERY comfortable.
very good value for the money as it is way too expensive to stay anywhere downtown. (but they will get it back from you if you spend any time at their bar!)
DOWNSIDE
the drinks in the pub and lounge cost about two to three times as much as anywhere else in boston. a single highball with tip will cost you about $11
the hotel is located about 30 minutes train ride from the center of boston. i chose this hotel in spite of it's location as they advertised a free shuttle to the T station and i found out that you can buy a charly (T) pass for one week for $15 which is an amazing value.the first morning we asked about the shuttle and were told it had just left and opperates on the hour. so we walked the 10-15 minutes easy downhill to the station. the next morning, we showed up in the lobby at about 10:55 and waited.....
finally at about 11:20, the driver showed up and drove us to the T. not a big deal, but the trains are about every 20 minutes, so the delays can add up.the next morning, we showed up in the lobby at about 10:55 and waited....finally at about 11:25 i went inside to ask and was told there would be no 11 o'clock shuttle as the driver was taking a break. in a nutshell, the shuttle was extrememly unreliable, but a taxi to the T is only about $5 so it's not the end of the world. just a little frustrating that they will let you sit there and wait when there is no shuttle service.
BOTTOM LINE
marriott quincy is a very nice hotel, just don't expect a ride anywhere on their shuttle.

My husband and I stayed here for a wedding we were attending in Hingham. We took the train from the airport and then got off at Quincy Adams station. The business park the hotel is in has a shuttle that runs from the station to the hotel and other buidings in the park. It is hit or miss at best. If it is a nice day would be a good walk but BEWARE large hill you have to climb to get to hotel so if you are not in walking shape, don't attempt.

This is a nice newer Marriott and the room we were in was quite large (333) It was right next to the elevators however the only sound you heard was the occasional "bing" when the elevator opened on our floor. The pub in the hotel is your standard fare.

Our biggest gripe about the hotel is there is NOTHING around it. You are on top of a hill in the middle of a business park. Walking to a restaurant or shop is completely out of the question.

bottom line, nice hotel in a weird location.

We chose this property based on the price when flying out of Logan. Room average size, up to date and clean. Had dinner in the Irish pub downstairs and the service was o.k. but the food above average. Would stay here again when flying out of Boston vs. paying top dollar in the city, took under 15 mins. to get to Logan. Also no excessive parking fee, it's free if you wish to park yourself or valet if you prefer.

We used the Quincy Marriot on our recent stay in Boston. We were in town to go to a red sox game and also a patriots game. The hotel was a great value compared with trying to stay downtown Boston. The room was very nice and clean. Plenty of room, and the staff was also very nice and professional. We ate lunch at the resteraunt in the bar once and it was fine. Maybe a tad pricey for what you get, and the menu is somewhat limited.
As an alternative to staying in downtown Boston, we felt good with our choice. We booked a Sat and Sun. night stay for $99 a night. Staying anywhere decent in Boston would have been twice as much or more. The savings don't come without some inconvenience. The "T" has a station in Quincy, so we took the train pretty much everywhere. The Marriot has a shuttle but it's hard to count on that being able to take you to the T station. If not, you can get a cab for about $5-6.The train ride in to Boston is about 30 minutes. Pretty good option to save some bucks , but you will need to plan your time and be flexible.

I stay at this hotel once a month for business. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The beds are amazing! The service has always been wonderful; each morning I probably have 4-5 people say good morning to me. This last trip I forgot my cell phone charger and the girl at the front desk searched through boxes of chargers that people have left at the hotel. She found one to fit my phone. The shuttle drivers are awesome - very personable!

My only complaint is that they have two restuarants on site and their menus NEVER change. The food is good, but inconsistent. Once I ordered one of the salads and it was huge, the next time I ordered the same salad it hardly had any toppings at all. I have had this experience with a couple of dishes there.

I probably wouldn't stay here for vacation because it is out of the way, but for business it is really good.

I called the Marriott chain's 800 number to book and was offered an even better price than the one I found online so we got a great price to stay there . The hotel and rooms are really lovely, beautifully decorated, great comfortable bed, and immaculately clean. In addition staff were friendly and helpful.
My only complaints were: the $10/day charge for internet access when most hotels are offering the service for free, and no deal including breakfast. Also we were surprised at how easily the noise transferred from guests talking in the halls-woke us up at 2 in the morning.
The pool and workout room are really well designed and I suspect popular in the early mornings. There is also a really nice little change room with showers and lockers. Unfortunately the evening we were there, the lap pool was well used by about 5 kids, who were not too willing to leave one lane open for those of us wanting to actually swim laps. I'm not sure how the hotel can moniter that, maybe some signs to indicate appropriate use of lanes would help.

Okay, okay, so the hotel LOOKED nice. And it was. The computers were nice, the elevators, the pool ecspeacially. All this sounds great, right? But make sure you know the security isnt too tight. One night at out stay, there was a wedding party. AT 3 IN THE MORNING. My children were up for hours. We called security, but that didnt exactly stop the party. The drunk men even spat on our door, and pounded on it. I am not saying this is the marriot's fault. All I am saying is take caution were you book. The security isnt very tough.
