“Excellent Stay, Excellent Pianist”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

My husband and I enjoyed a quick two-night getaway here in August. Our room was amazing with a fireplace and a deck overlooking Frenchman's Bay. Also two flat-screen TVs and a fridge. The bathroom vanity with two sinks was nice too so we could spread out all our things. The radio was really good quality sound, too. Not sure if it was a Bose but sounded like one. We also sat by the outdoor pool and swam in the indoor pool, plus relaxed in the indoor hot tub after our hike in the park. The highlight of our stay was pianist Bill Trowell, who plays six nights a week in the Great Room of the hotel, where you can also get drinks and food. We enjoyed a glass of wine and a delicious piece of Blueberry Pie while listening to the piano music. Bill takes requests and he can play virtually any type of piano music. It was so much fun and he is such a great performer! It's amazing that he plays six nights a week, and evidently has done so for 18 years! A real treat. I will definitely come back to this hotel. The manager, Jim Ash, personally hosts a wine and cheese welcome reception three nights a week which is another added bonus at this property.

Room Tip: The rooms on the fourth floor with the balcony and fireplaces are amazing.

Thank you for your excellent comments regarding your recent stay at the Bluenose Inn. We are extremely pleased that you enjoyed the room with the fireplace, private balcony and amenities of both the room and the property. Since you asked, the radio is a Bose unit by the way. Bill Trowell, our pianist, has been with the property for over 17 years. He is a tremendous talent and extraordinary individual. He actually plays 7 nights per week from mid June until late October and is endeared by so many of our guests. He truly is one of the main reasons many people stay with us so I can truly appreciate your comment. When your travel plans bring you back to Bar Harbor, we sincerely hope that you will once again stay with us.
Sincerely,
Jim

The accommodations were lovely. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. We had a beautiful sitting room with a fireplace and private balcony. The staff was warm, courteous and always ready to help with information. The location of this Inn is breathtakingly beautiful. It has a lovely restaurant at the top of Acadia called "The Looking Glass" with glass walls overlooking the mountains on one side and the water on the other side. We have stayed here the last two Junes and definitely plan to return again.

Room Tip: The rooms in the main building is where we stayed this year. However, there are leaa expensive acco...

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent visit to the Bluenose Inn. I was particularly happy about the one praising the staff for being warm, courteous and always ready to help. You are indeed correct that the location is beautiful and frankly it never "gets old". We also appreciate your very nice comments regarding our Looking Glass restaurant. As a repeat visitor, we hope to see you again next season.

My wife and I just had the privilege of staying at the bluenose for a overnight and couldn't have been more happy. We were very impressed with the professionalism of the front desk staff and other hotel staff members. Our room was on the third floor with a great balcony view of the harbor and islands. The room itself was in great condition with more than plenty of room for the two of us. As a former hospitality employee I can tell you they do things the right way here. Not to mention the location and ammenities that are offered here are great. You must try the looking glass for dinner or breakfast one of the best views on the whole island.

Room Tip: Third or fourth floor for best view

My son and I stayed here for 5 nights on our first trip to Bar Harbor, Maine and Acadia National Park. We got a beautiful room on the second floor overlooking Frenchman's Bay. The room is beautifully decorated down to the light fixtures and furniture. The beds are super comfortable and we even had a little sitting area with a sofa and electric fireplace. On our first night, we had dinner at the restaurant nearby and visited the piano bar after dinner which was a nice touch. I also visited the spa and got a pedicure and my son used the gym and pool. The indoor pool and whirlpool is just wonderful! We would definitely come back here again in the future. The only downsize is the noisey window A/C and the road below but it really didn't dampen our experience at all.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the room, the many amenities offered and the Looking Glass restaurant and the piano lounge. Also happy to hear you enjoyed the spa and got a pedicure. We do apologize for the noise from the a/c unit and will certainly look into what can be done to remedy this issue.
We sincerely hope that when your future travel brings you back to the area, you once again stay with us.

The Bluenose Inn offers a wonderful view of the ocean around Mt. Desert Island from its rooms and outdoor swimming pool. It also has an indoor pool, spa, and restaurant. The rooms are comfortable and the service excellent. A great spot for a stay in Bar Harbor

Celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, we decided on a rode trip to Bar Harbor. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. Minutes after checking into our gorgeous room that looked out over the harbor, the bell hop delivered a bottle of chilled apple cider with two champaign glasses, really sweet, I first thought it was a bottle of champaign, and was like, YES!!! O well, it was still a nice touch of Lagnaipe! The piano player was awesome, we spent some time one evening in their lounge area, very elegant. The inn is not right on the water, but our 4th floor balcony had a great view of the fireworks set off in town on the 4th. My wife was thrilled with the entire stay which was my goal. Very clean thorough out the entire property.

Thank you for your excellent comments regarding your recent visit to the Bluenose Inn. I will certainly pass them along to the staff. We pride ourselves in the cleanliness of the property so I am glad you noticed how immaculate it is. The piano player has been with us for 17 years and is indeed a great asset. The views as you cited are tremendous (and never get old) and what a great place to enjoy the fireworks. We hope when your travel brings you back to Maine, you will once again spend time with us.

This is a beautifully kept property. Every nook is clean throughout the hotel. We stayed in the Mizzen top. Highly recommend this section. Our room with a private balcony faced the bay and it was lovely sipping our tea and coffee watching the boats and water. The staff is wonderful and can't do enough for you. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel a very short hilly walk away (staff will drive you up in golf cart if needed) called The Looking Glass. The view is spectacular. Our dinners were decent. A bit on the salty side. Crab cakes were more bread than crab which surprised us here in Maine... But this is one of the better restaurants in the harbor so definitely try it.
I have read some reviews that the Bluenose is a bit out of town proper. We did not find this an issue. We happen to like being away from the crowds first of all. And getting into town is easy!!! We parked our car and walked everywhere. It is a mile walk into town so doable for sure if you like to leave the car at the hotel.
I would book this property again in a heartbeat. We stayed on the fourth floor. Enjoy!!!! And book!!!
