... and the staff was reasonably chipper... but not much else to say to recommend. we reserved in advance, asked to room with ocean view on high floor. we got one, but right over the air conditioning and kitchen exhaust units. furniture beat up furniture, uncomfortable mattresses. ok, it is better than a dive, much, much better. but for $200 a night plus taxes, fees... just not worth it.'

Dear aimoneart,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay. It is unfortunate the room conditions prevented you from fully enjoying your time at the hotel. We are confident the necessary adjustments will be made, in order to achieve complete guest satisfaction.

Overall we were disappointed. The nice brochures for the Regency look great, but the reality doesn't quite match up. Granted it was the end of September, but it felt like the place was closed up for the winter. The dock was closed off and the restaurant and bar by the water and pool were closed, yet the weather was great. Although, the pool and whirlpool were still open. The workout room is a joke. They say there is a marina, but I don't know where they would be able to put it. The breakfast coffee shop was also closed.
They put us in the "Eden House" rooms, which seems to be a small tower unit off to the side of the parking lots and has it's own separate entrance and a Holiday Inn sign. This looks like it may have been a separate hotel, and it quite dated and a distinctive musty odor throughout. The Regency must just be just changing over to the Holiday Inn. The staff didn't seem to know or at least weren't willing to tell us the story.

Room Tip: Stay in the Regency side, not the Eden House rooms. I don't know if they are any better, but I...

We traveled to Bar Harbor with another couple and were pleasantly surprised by this affordable hotel. We booked an oceanview room and were not disappointed by the excellent view of the bay and the well manicured and well maintained grounds. The room was very clean and included a balcony where we had coffee in the morning overlooking the harbor where the cruise ships were anchored. The onsite lobster pound was closed for the season, but the hotel restaurant offered a great assortment. We ate breakfast there twice and ordered off of the menu and and also enjoyed the bufffet. The wait staff was extremely friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them getting recommendations as to where to go in town during our relatively short stay. The Island Bus is really the only way to go when getting to and from town. The bus is free (donations are appreciated to keep it running)so there was no hassle with trying to find in town parking, which is limited, and would have been difficult with all of the pedistrians walking around town. Housekeeping did a wonderful job keeping the room and bathroom clean. We tipped them a small amount daily and even got a thank you note from one of the housekeeping staff. The entire Bar Harbor experience was fantastic and I would definitely recommend this hotel as a perfect place to stay when traveling to this area!

Room Tip: Rooms on the 3rd and 4th floor oceanside have the best view.

We stayed here as a gift from a relative who had purchased a non refundable stay in August. Due to medical needs he had to cancel the reservation. Note: you can change the date on a non refundable stay so long as you persevere and talk to the right person. Getting to the right person can be a challenge! Once he was able to talk to the manager, the date change was no problem. Note also that he was changing the date from the highest occupancy season to a very moderate season date.
When we checked in we asked for an ocean view and main building location (as suggested by numerous other reviewers). Our room was very clean and nicely decorated. The building itself is older but I would say that it has been updated and was very clean.
Now for the best part...the view is spectacular and the outdoor hot tub and pool as well as the grounds are kept in pristine condition. We did not go to the restaurant but others who were staying at the hotel that we spoke to said that it was very good and particularly the breakfast.
The cleaning crew was a bit noisy one morning but quickly quieted down after being reminded that for some of us it was still early am.

Ok place clean, we were in an annex building. Has easy free parking. Staff at the front desk were efficient but disinterested. Had a small fridge in the room but sitting on the floor so you had to tip it back to open the door, also had no shelf. Looked like someone had left it there because they did not want it.

Hi, again we finally made it to Bar Harbor, enjoying the sites along the way. This is our 3rd and final hotel from our trip and we are happy to say customer service is alive and well. Take that Residence Inn, in Portland ME!!.
This hotel is very reasonably priced for the area. Almost half the price of some of the other places up here.
This hotel is very clean, and quiet, and has an incredible view and near by all the sites, such as Acadia National park, a definite must see!!
The rooms can either be booked by itself , or with breakfast included. I would recommend purchasing the breakfast buffet for only 10 dollars a night, its well worth it because most of the restaurants in Bar Harbor are very expensive.
The breakfast buffet is very good, it has scrambled eggs, and scrambled eggs with ham, also homefried potatoes, thick cut bacon, large link sausages, assort cereals, smoothies, parfaits, fresh fruit, assorted breads, waffles, french toast. Also if you like omelets, they have a chef that will cook you a fresh omelet of your choice while you wait. Definitely you should be able to find something you would like. Also breakfast is served til 11am.
The hotel also serves lunch and dinner, and also has a small lobster pound on site for seafood. The glass dining room has a very pretty view of the ocean as you eat and the grounds are very beautiful and well maintained.
The staff is very nice and helpful and when they made a mistake on our bill they were quick to correct it.
This hotel was very much a very good experience for us, it is definitely where we will stay again when we come back to Bar Harbor. Thanks Holiday Inn Regency and keep up the good work.

Room Tip: Tip you might want to know is that when you book a room that states its an Eden room it means the ro...

My wife and I stayed here during a 3-day getaway to the area. The front desk staff was helpful, our check-in didn't take more than a minute or two and we were on our way to the room. The lobby was inviting and comfortable. There a large group off a bus tour while we were there but except for the group hanging out in the lobby and the crowds at the restaurant the hotel was quiet.

We found our room to be comfortable, clean and pleasant. Everything in the room seemed pretty new, so they must have had a remodel not too long ago. The bathroom was spotless, well-lit, and stocked with plenty of towels. Our room had a nice balcony overlooking the lawn and pool area with the ocean beyond. You could sit out and watch the ocean but it was a little too chilly during our stay to hang out there.

The hotel has a few restaurants but most are seasonal leaving only one open during this time of the year. As I mentioned earlier that open restaurant was crowded by tour people so we opted to go into town for dinner. We never did eat in the hotel restaurant so I cannot comment on that experience.

There was plenty of convenient parking outside so it was easy to come and go as we wanted. Finally the beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows. I would definately stay here again when in the area.

Room Tip: Ocean view room in the main building. 2nd floor or higher will give you the best view.
