This hotel, I use this term loosely, needs to be taken over by the city and REALLY renovated as it is not only an eye sore when you enter it, it stinks and is a haven for the most undesirable, MOLD. We booked ahead without looking at these reviews first...never again. Most of these reviews were right on target. DECEPTION was the first word that came to my mind when we entered the lobby. The manager changed our room on us without calling us ahead of our arrival, having only booked 2 days in advance. They gave us an excuse that they were doing construction, but upon showing us the room we booked, there was no activity except the mold in the bathroom but there was mold in all the bathrooms they showed us. In our original room, the least smelly, the pull down blind was missing on the window that has a 24hr light streaming into our room, facing the bed, you don't see this until it's dark out. Also, a pump that went off every 20 minutes without fail..NO SLEEP for me and you don't hear this unless you stand in the room long enough during the "inspection". Breakfast was a muffin, and at 8:30 (after leaving and eating in a proper establishment), there wasn't a muffin or coffee urn in view, sad when you pay hundreds of dollars to stay here. Oh, don't forget you have the fireplace, BUT you can only use it if you buy THEIR LOG for $5.00, don't you just love that! The pool is still out of commission as well as the hot tub in the backyard, their website doesn't mention these 2 assets but by omission and you see them in person, you note they are derelict and abandoned . The private porches are empty and the paint is peeling badly, so what is the use of a porch or patio when you didn't pack your patio chairs!! Oh silly us!! The jacuzzi tub in our room, which there was no picture of on their website, (just a regular sized jetted tub) looked like it was from the 80's, yellowed and old, I was afraid to turn it on in case it caught fire or something would crawl out. Black stains on the pillowcases was also a turn off. I just can't find much good to say about this place. It is a necrotic ulcer, in the heart of one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen. As for the good things, the one lady at the desk did her best to help us and it seemed she was the only one we ever saw from evening at the front desk to morning setting up the muffins. The only other good thing is it's location, a very expense parking lot as you can walk around town with ease not worrying about a parking ticket in the congestion of town.
