“A Superior Lodging Option in Bar Harbor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

Our family of 5 (including three teenagers) from California enjoyed our first introduction to Maine with our 2-night stay at Bar Harbor Inn at the end of July 2014. We were in rooms 423 & 424 on the second floor with a harbor view. The rooms are spacious and clean and have functional balconies. The continental breakfast is fine and also looks out at the harbor. The hotel staff were friendly and competent. The location is excellent because you are able to enjoy the harbor view yet you are plenty close to main street and all of its charming stores and restaurants.

We recommend this property to other Bar Harbor visitors.

Room Tip: harbor view! We liked our 2nd floor rooms (423 & 424)

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing the Bar Harbor Inn & Spa during your recent trip to Bar Harbor. We are pleased to read your room was spacious and clean and our staff were friendly. I agree that we have the premier location with views over looking both the ocean and the harbor. We are also only 1 block away from Main Street and the heart of Bar Harbor. I look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Sincerely,

This summer we returned to the Bar Harbor Inn for the third time...and we were so pleased. The staff is helpful, pleasant, and very good at what they do. The hotel is clean and decorated with a country charm. Our room was clean, and when room service came in with linens on our tray and a lovely late night snack, I was so happy. Living with Celiac Disease is not always easy, however, thanks to the excellent chef, Lou Kiefer, and his staff, I ate fantastic meals and never felt left out. If anyone has a dietary concern, this is the place to go to vacation. When I entered the dining room for breakfast one morning, the waitress remarked, "Oh, you need a gluten free meal, no problem." I had never met her before, however, the staff is informed about the special needs of the visitors. Looking out and seeing beautiful ships, going to the National Park on a horse and buggy ride, or relaxing and eating a fine meal...these experiences are yours here at the Bar Harbor Inn.

Room Tip: Staying in the main building is more expensive, but sitting on your private deck looking at the ship...

Dear Guest,

It was our pleasure to have you as our guest for the third time during your recent visit. I am very pleased to read that you think our staff is helpful, pleasant and very good at what they do. That is a fantastic compliment and I will pass this on to our Department Managers and their Staff. Thank you for mentioning Chef Lou Kiefer and his staff. They do a great job of providing our guests with outstanding food and plate presentations. I am very happy to hear that our staff worked closely with you on your dietary needs. We look forward to welcoming you back for your fourth stay with us.

Sincerely,

We took our first trip to the north east and stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn for two nights. The motel is superb. The staff were friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. The room was extremely clean, spacious, and the bed (king) was very comfortable. The lobby had a couch and chairs situated around a fireplace. There were tables for siting and enjoying a good conversation along with the fireplace. The bar staff gave us wine glasses for us to enjoy some of the local vineyard products and we were able to enjoy the sunset and the fireplace. I highly recommend spending the extra money and having a first class stay. We didn't dine in the hotel. Don't miss this one.

Room Tip: We booked through one of the online hotel sites and saved a few dollars. From what we could tell th...

We stayed at the Bar Harbour inn in the newport building July 20-23..Great Location..you can walk right into town and do many of the boating exursions Beautiful Hotel..Newport building was nice but next time may stay in the main hotel...We were hardly ever in the room so the view really didnt matter...The only complaint is the front desk staff was really clueless about any local recommentions and really did not go out of their way to accomadate maybe this is because this is a seasonal staff and they really didnt know about the area...otherwise a great choice

Room Tip: I would go for a waterfront view if you can definetly worth the extra $ if you plan on spending time...

When setting up our VBT bike vacation, the folks at VBT set up all the arrangements for the Bar Harbor Inn. The stay was awesome and the property had something for everyone. The strolls along the water, the town, the Inn restaurant, but mostly the people. It was by far our most favorite vacation and we were very happy that the Bar Harbor Inn was part of it.

This is an excellent resort hotel. The room was attractive, clean, comfortable and quiet. The location is perfect- right downtown and within walking distance of most everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful, Even the complimentary breakfast was very good. All in all, one of the best places we've ever stayed.

We were there for 4 nights this July the motel room was very clean the as well
the gal on the desk from 3 on was great, the other ones at the desk were very good too
the breakfast was good and offered lots of good choices
the young man working on keeping the dining room clean and stocked was the best I have ever had at any of the places we have stayed at. The trolley stopped right in front to take you into town sure saved on trying to find a place to park.
