We spent two nights in Bar Harbor. We went economical on night one at the Arcadia Hotel and it was a great experience. But we decided to wrap up our stay a little more lavishly on the coast. Since we visited in mid April a lot of the classic inns and hotels on the coast around the island were not open for the season. We inquired at Bar Harbor Inn and were able to get a lovely room ocean side in the lodge for $140 with a AAA discount. The rooms are pretty basic, on par to a stay at the Hampton Inn, but the view is so much better than a moderate hotel. The continental breakfast did not disappoint with a lot of options and the lodge itself is perfectly located at the end of the harbor and near great bars and restaurants. I'm not sure I would spend $250-$300 for the same room during the high season, but in the off season it was a good value.
