We had been to the Graycote before and experienced the same quality service. The rooms were clean, beautifully decorated. Breakfast was good and vreative. The hosts are friendly and helpful.

A very nice B&B we stayed for 4 nites. Elegant layout and the best B&B breakfasts I have had. Real care and imagination in the menu. Close enough to downtown for a walk in to all main reasons to be in town. Stayed in third floor room with french doors to tiny balcony, great for fresh air. Seriously non smoking. Good information resources provided. We chose based on a "promotion", reduced room rate with a contribution to Habitat for Humanity , I thought a pretty classy way to attract guests

My wife and I just returned from a week at the Graycote Inn. Pat and Roger Samuel were excellent hosts, providing everything from good advice on activities and dining to a great breakfast each morning, and a warm and welcoming experience.

The Inn itself was well appointed, and served as a good home base for activities. It was an easy walk to the shops along main street, and a short block from Hwy 233, which is a useful gateway to the park loop road, and other parts of the island. Service was excellent, and the room was just as advertised. On the first floor, at the foot of the stairway, information was posted about the weather, tides, and activities within the village. National and local papers were waiting on the breakfast table each morning. Breakfast itself consisted of a fruit appetizer and main dish that ranged from blueberry pancakes (made of course, with Maine blueberries), to a light and perfectly textured quiche. An evening snack waited on the table each evening for our return.

These little touches made the difference. Roger and Pat greeted us each morning by our first names, remembered from where we were traveling, and seemed genuinely interested in our visit. They are very knowledgeable of both the local area and the region. It's clear they take their work seriously, and they do an excellent job of hosting their guests.

The Samuels provide a warm and comfortable lodging experience to anchor your vacation to this wonderful area.

My wife Nancy and I have stayed at this Inn for 10-7 days in late January for the last 7 years. We come to Bar Harbor in Winter for rest, peace, quiet, great food and cross country skiing on Arcadia's spectacular Carriage Roads. The Inn is meticulously maintained. The rooms are large and luxuriously decorated. We spend quite a bit of time just relaxing, reading, etc. in our room and feel very much at home. Breakfast (at least 2 courses) is of gourmet quality. We find it so substantial that only a midday snack before dinner is required. The Inn's owners/operators, Pat & Roger, know everything about what's going on in the area and are eager to answer all of our questions. The Inn's location, right in the village of Bar Harbor, allows us to walk to shops, restaurants, movies-anywhere in town-including the waterfront and the low tide hike to Bar Island. Simply put, this B & B is the best!

My wife and I are experienced travelers often B&B'ing as we go and the Graycote has become our favorite Bed and Breakfast; we return most every year. Roger and Pat are fantastic innkeepers - detail oriented, highly guest-focused, and engaging. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfasts/afternoon snacks are consistently good. Special needs - no problem - Roger and Pat will assist you. Do not believe the negative reviews; if you take a little time to get to know Roger and Pat and actually listen to their restaurant and recreation suggestions you'll thoroughly enjoy your visit (and likely find yourself returning again). Graycote fans from Cincinnati.

December-9th thru the 14th 2008. My husband had just lost his father and we needed to get away for a few days. We decided to go to Bar Harbor to see what Maine looked like.. The Graycote Inn is great --the food great--the company was wonderful--they gave us information about the town -and every thing there was to do --even in the middle of December--We would highly recomend the Greycote Inn to everyone--Pat & Don Taylor

  • Liked — The Inn it self was very--just what a B & B should be.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Graycote Inn. The room was beautiful with a comfortable bed and a fireplace that added a “warm touch”. The wholesome, delicious food was the best of our New England visit. Pat and Roger were the most thorough and helpful keepers of any inns we have visited. Roger’s travel advice was especially helpful. Thanks for a great stay.
