My wife and I enjoyed five nights in Bar Harbor, ME at the Acadia Hotel. If you are looking for a prime location where you will almost never need to get in your car, then this is it. The amazing park bus sytem is literally 100 yards away and is so efficient to get you anywhere on the island. Main street is within a stones throw and you can walk to any of the fantastic restaurants in Bar Harbor in less than 10 minutes.
The hotel has just a handful of rooms (9 I think) so it is very quaint and quiet which we appreciate. We booked a king size bed room with a small miny fridge that was very useful for keeping drinks cold. The rooms were very clean and the housekeeping was timely every morning. My wife even wanted me to mention that the towels had a very nice fabric softner scent to them.
I will comment that some prior reviews mention just one small trash can, which is true and which required us to use an extra plastic bag for trash. Also the noise from pedestrians and taffic on Main Street can be bothersome, but we simply turned the vent on the AC unit to combat that. Neither issue was a big deal.
The free parking is very convenient considering how busy downtown BH can be during this time of year. In addition, free wireless internet was very handy. I would certainly recommend this hotel to any couples that are visiting BH to visit/explore the Acadia Ntl Park. This hotel would be perfect for any elderly couples that might have difficulty walking distances, although make sure to book a downstairs room. We truly enjoyed our experience at the Acadia Hotel and highly recommend it for anyone visiting BH or Acadia Ntl Park. You cannot beat the location.
