“Hidden treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

If you like unique, fresh food this is the place for you. Away from the beaten path this place was recommended by the inn staff where we stayed. All of the entrees are made from locally grown produce and freshly caught seafood.

“A Diamond in the rough”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

We drove by it twice and missed it totally as it has an abandoned look. The inside reinforced our initial evaluation. The food though totally knocked our socks off. The pan seared gnocchi was outstanding as was the cous cous with shrimp and lobster. It is way off the beaten path so you shouldn't see many tourists.

“Very good,but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

We are in the area for the week and came here on a local recommendation. The food was quite good, but we were put off by our server. When we were placing our order, one of us inquired about what was included with the entree and the server quickly replied that a starch and a vegetable were included. When asked what those might be, the server looked at her like she had three heads and said (with attitude) "It's the chef's choice.". After she left with our orders, we all agreed that the question was legitimate....what if you had a food allergy or did not like the chef's choice? and that it set a bad tone for the rest of the meal. Fortunately, the meal and drinks were very good. Two of us tried the much praised "Mo tini" and we were not disappointed. It was delicious. We all enjoyed our entrees, with the lobster and shrimp with couscous voted the overall favorite. We all agreed that we would recommend this place to others, but hope that the wait staff takes note and treats their customers with a bit more respect.

“A nice surprise outside Bar Harbour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

After spending a week in August for each of the past several years in Bar Harbour we finally made it to this wonderful little bistro, set out on the other side of the island. We'd seen it each year, but either couldn't get a reservation when we wanted or just didn't want to drive the distance, but this year we finally made it and it was all worth the wait.
The menu is small but so it the place but that what makes it so nice. No one is rushing you but the service is excellent and appropriate for the place. Both my wife and I had two of the meat dishes that were on the specials for the night. Both were too bigger than we were used to, but well prepared and presented. Cooking was spot on and flavours were excellent. Sides featured the produce from local farms and in season.
Wine prices were reasonable and they had an adequate list for the place. Desserts were wonderful but after such large servings we could only spilt one.
We'll definitely be back to try more on the menu. Bar Harbour's got lots of great restaurants to keep you busy but this is worth the ride to try something a little different out of the way.
