“Lovely Stay at Canterbury Cottage!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

We had a wonderful stay in Bar Harbor for three nights mid-week in October. The cottage was charming with four bedrooms, all with their own private baths. We were traveling with my sister & her husband so we had two different rooms in the house. The beds were comfortable, the rooms clean & home well cared for. High end products for our use in the bathrooms. plus a gift from a local store, Fiora, of olive oil & vinegar, which we ended up buying more of. Martha & Tim, owners & on site, were wonderful hosts. They have two well behaved dogs on premise & welcome your pet as well. Our Shih Tzu, Maddie, had an awesome vacation!

The home is in a great location within walking distance to everything in the downtown & harbor area. Marsha's breakfasts were awesome & plentiful... what a wonderful cook! Always had mid afternoon baked snacks too. Unlimited coffee, tea, hot chocolate, snacks, soda & bottled water were out for the taking... which was nice to have for our long walks in Arcadia or by the Harbor.

We chose this place because they would allow our dog & the great reviews... we were not disappointed. They went above & beyond one night while we were out to dinner & had Maddie, our Shih Tzu, go up to their living space to play with their dogs until we came back. Read the other pet friendly hotels/B&Bs, they won't even let your pet stay in the room in a crate while you have gone out!!

Room Tip: VERY PET Friendly! The Cottage Room is in the back of the home where the Look Nook was in the front...

Stayed here one night just for a change on our way thru coming back from Nova Scotia. Quaint house, well kept up by the owners. Martha is fine, the guy I'm not sure. Really nice room, clean and well appointed. Nice location near town tho we were out and on our way. I did see a dog but gave it no mind tho other reviews found the dogs a negative.

Room Tip: far as I heard they are all nice

I would stay here again in a heart-beat. Martha and Tim are on the premises (which I understand from some others that stayed at the cottage is not always the case). It is a great location - much better than staying out of town in a resort. Street was quiet, breakfasts were lovely, and it has a very inviting atmospere. The rooms are immaculateand well decorated, the bed comfortable and high end products are provided for your use & enjoyment. Only issue to be aware of = if your vehicle is wide or you are wide in body this may not be the place for you. Off street parking (very appreciated) is tight and the shower was very small. I chose this place because of reviews on Trip Advisor & I was very pleased.

Room Tip: I had the island room & really liked it.

My wife and I stayed at Canterbury Cottage for a weekend. Breakfast was good, relaxing atmosphere, and quiet. Owners were friendly and the dogs were cool. My only complaint is the room and shower was on the small side, but thats really no big deal.

There are a lot of great things about this INN. First off, it's on a very quiet street, within a few blocks from the busy town of Bar harbor. Wish the street was better lit at night, but everyone was always seen out and walking. The INN is quiet. VERY clean & relaxing. INN keepers are hospitable and personable. The dogs Clinton and Ellie Mae are cute and well behaved as well. Our room was always kept Clean and organized. Stayed in the Sun Room and would def reserve this room again. Shower is a bit small but has a very nice sized room. They provided Aveda shampoo & conditioner as well as Bath& Body works soaps & lotion that were a VERY nice touch. Especially since our carry ons wouldnt allow all our amenties from home. Breakfast was good. I tended to like the "starters" more so than the main courses at times. This was our first time to Maine and we can't wait to come back!

Our fault for not knowing they allow pets. There were 4 dogs at the breakfast table!

Inn is convenient to downtown and bed was comfortable. Bathroom and shower were very small.

Only recommended if you are bringing a dog.
