“bar harbour campground, amasing view campground”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

we arrived in this campground no reservation possible; we were so happy of it! we choose the site we prefered; we were in july, a very busy month but no problem, it is so big. If you have a rv, choose a spot without sewer and then the day after, you will have the site you want! A VIEW! the ocean in a front of you, blueberry every where to bring back home; Bar Harbor at 4 miles, no cars needs, take the bus who goes to the village or to the acadia park or to any ferry you want or to the airport. We bike or take the bus for the week, no need car. Really friendlay owners, wi fi to speak to ours relatives; if you ear the bells who sell blueberry pies, it is 16$ for one pie but you must buy one, it is so good!
Perfect vacation, it is a pleasure for youngs, olds and families! Price: cheap for what you have: 38$

We spent 3 nights just before the 4th of July and LOVED it! The sites were large so you weren't too close to your neighbors. We were allowed to choose our site, which is always a plus. The staff was friendly and helpful. We don't use the bath houses so I don't know what they were like. The playground was nice, my daughter couldn't stay away. Lots of wild blueberries to pick. A beautiful view. No complaints other than some unruly middle school aged kids on the playground but it wasn't that big of a deal for us.

Called and was told they don't take reservations and everyting was by casth, but as it was early June we took the risk. It was totally worth it. We got to drive around and choose our site then went back and paid.for two nights. We ended up staying 5. The views were awesome, laundry convenient, restrooms clean. We were surprised and the showers needing quarters, but well worth it as everything worked and the water hot and stong. Two great loberster resturands nearby and a miniture golf. Close to Acadia entrance and Bar Harbor. Will definately try to make it there again.

We wanted to spend a week camping in Acadia but almost changed our mind when we got to the park. We are a quiet, adult couple but we like at least a little privacy when we camp so we can have a nice fire and listen to music (very softly) or baseball, mostly baseball. When we explored the sites, and I mean ALL the sites at all the camping areas in Acadia, we were really disappointed. Everything was right on top of each other with virtually no privacy. We happened to get put in the handicap site for the first night (it was all they had open) which was a small blessing as it was bigger than all the rest. The next day we headed out and drove into, and then right back out of, every private campground surrounding the park. We were literally one step away from getting a hotel when we came across Bar Harbor. Thank goodness! They let us go in and look around and pick out a site on our own which was so nice of them as some places get upset about that. Now there are a lot of sites here that aren't overly private but there are an ample number that are in nice wooded areas. We picked one we were very happy with and stayed there until we saw the sites up on the cliff! The last night we stayed we were able to get one of those sites and it was really amazing (not as private but what a view!). As far as we were concerned, this was without a doubt the best campground in the area. If your used to some of the wonderful wooded, private sites of NH and VT - where you see nothing but animals during your stay - you won't find one around Acadia but Bar Harbor will certainly get you by.

We chose this particular campground because it was close to Acadia National Park. It came with a long list of rules and "do's and don'ts." One rule we had never seen before was the charge of $2 for daytime visitors, and visitors were only allowed to stay until 10 p.m. Most of the spots were wooded, which we try to avoid because of mosquitos. But fortunately, after we left Canada, mosquitos ceased to be a problem. Pets are allowed, but as in most campgrounds, they must be kept on a lease and cleaned up after.

Check in was a little strange. We were told to drive around in a certain area of the campground, find the spot we wanted, mark it somehow, then return to the office to complete the registration process. We didn't tow our car this trip, so that made things a little more difficult.

The site we found had a picnic table and was fairly level. This campground also had ocean view sites available. There were spots for tent camping, three bath houses, a laundromat, full and partial hook-ups, and a camp store. There is also a heated pool.

We didn't tow a car this trip which became a constant problem. Once hooked up, we were unable to go anywhere. Bar Harbor, Maine is a beautiful, but not a very RV friendly town. There was very little parking available for RV's.

Bar Harbour Campground was adequate for one night. I think if we ever return to that area, we would probably check out one of the campgrounds a little farther up the road, even though they are a little farther from the Park.

We`ve been there in the summer of 2009 & 2011. Really nice campground convenientely located to expolre the region. Free shuttle to Bar Harbor (15 min). Clean washrooms, friendly staff and quiet place. Nice outdoor pool with ocean view. Wild berries all over ! Reasonable rates.Only downside, cash only.

We stayed here for 3 nights on recommendation from friends and had a great experience! Nice pool, nice new play park for our kids, surprisingly super clean washrooms/showers, paved streets, wooded and open campsite options, pick your own campsite, super family friendly, very secure. They don't mess around with things being out of order either (for the enjoyment of ALL campers) - I was quickly brought up to speed (very politely I might add) on one minor thing I was doing wrong! I figure if they are taking care of minor issues, they'll definitely take care of the major ones. If you want a party campground, don't go here. If you want a great place to go with your family, this is it. We'll be back.
