I had seen the great reviews on this site for this tour and decided to give it a try because it was different and sounded interesting. It was a very nice day and we saw a lot of seals and a couple of bald eagles. Captain John was very knowledgable and all the kids just loved him. I found so many things that he talked about very interesting and learned alot about lobstering. He even pulled up a trap and there was one lobster in there. My son named him "Bob". Even days after this boat tour my 5 year old daughter still talks about how much she loved it and all the things that she saw, especially the lobster. It was really great!!!!!

The Lobster Boat ride gives you the opportunity to see Bar Harbor from the water and learn the basics about lobster and lobstering (don't call it lobster fishing). :)
Captain John was friendly and entertaining!
It was raining when we went but we still had a great time!
Not only did we learn the basics, but we saw lots of harbor seals and went past Egg Rock lighthouse.
Captain John is also very knowledgeable about the local lighthouses and their history.
He recommended a great book called The Women Who Kept The Lights - great book about the women lighthouse keepers in American history.
The Lobster Boat Ride is great for kids and adults.

The ride on the lobster boat is number 1 attraction for a reason. It is so much fun--informative and interesting. We saw seals and all sorts of birds on our trip. Captain John told us all about lobsters and the industry of lobstering in Maine. You can tell that he has a passion for his work. He is less about trying to get your money and more about imparting his information and making sure you're enjoying yourself. It's a definite must do in Bar Harbor!

So glad we decided to take this tour! Captain John was wonderful - very entertaining and informative. We saw harbor seals and one gray seal, two bald eagles, harbor porpoises, the Egg Rock Lighthouse, not to mention the lobsters and crabs in the traps. Highly recommend this tour - it's a great value and far more interesting than the other boat tour we took. : )
