“Great hopitality; a touch pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2014

We enjoyed our time at Shore Path Cottage; the location is excellent for the town and the national park, and our host Elizabeth was extremely welcoming. There is a great deal of home baking and this is evident in the breakfast and afternoon cakes, plus other home-made dishes at breakfast. There is also wine offered in the early evening.
The house has a lot of character, and the fact it has not been modernised or extensively refurbished is in keeping with the whole concept. Our room was very large, and had not been remodelled for many years or even decades - and that was fine. However, I would have appreciated a modernised bathroom with a proper shower cubicle (showers over baths with 360 degree curtains are never successful). It is for this reason that at $200/night (inc tax) I felt it a little pricey - despite the Bar Harbor location - and have therefore dropped one of the five stars.

We loved everything about the B&B, the location, the owners Roberta and Lizabeth, the laughter, the food, the view and the time spent on the porch drinking coffee!

Roberta baked us an apple pie for our last day, we stayed in the Roberta room, it was quiet, spacious and comfortable!

I'm trying to determine when to return in 2015.....

Room Tip: Roberta's room gives you plenty of light, quiet and space

We were thrilled that we'd chosen this wonderful and delightful cottage. It is an oasis from the hub of the noisy harbor waterfront. Ideal location, walk across the lawn to the legendary shore path, tucked away down a quiet quaint tree lined street. In the heart of it and yet serenely peaceful.

Cecily and her family treat you as friends and are very generous hosts as they welcome you into their charming, warm and historic home. Delicious abundant breakfast. Best blueberry muffins we've ever tasted.

A bit of going back in time in the most wonderful of ways.

This is a GEM! Would love to come back!

We spent 3 nights at this wonderful Bed and Breakfast. The house is in a very quiet and secluded area. You walk down the front lawn and you are on the shore path that goes right into town or you can walk up the street to Main Street. We loved being able to walk to restaurants and shops. You are also very close to the village green if you want to take the shuttle to Acadia National Park. The house itself is large and spacious. It is very cozy and feels just like home. We stayed in Peter's room that had a view of the harbor and got the morning sun. The owner was a true delight. When we arrived, I felt like I was visiting family. She served a great breakfast along with insightful conversation. I would go back to Bar Harbor just to stay there again.

Room Tip: Peter's room was spacious, harbor view and got the morning sun.

Stayed two nights in this well situated B&B on the Shore Path and very near the Main St. The location is very quiet and peaceful with plenty of seating areas on the lawns, verandah and guest sitting rooms. The room was quiet but a little dark - a common problem for us in the US. Breakfast was ok.

We were once told that bed and breakfasts either have great hosts, or a great location. So, Shore Path Cottage has both: great hosts, a great location, plus, a really nice ambience, a lovely environment, and two great rocking chairs on the porch looking out onto the water! What more could you expect from a bed and breakfast. Its on the Shore Path, so its an easy walk to the harbor and to downtown, walkable to restaurants and shopping, and yet there's tremendous privacy. Our breakfasts were great; we chose to have them outside on the porch to enjoy the weather and view. We were in Birds Nest 1, so the bathroom was outside the door. When we made the reservation we were told we would have privacy, and we did. It wasn't an issue at all. What we also really liked was that the kitchen is vegetarian (and kosher), so we didn't have to worry about what we were eating. We highly recommend the Shore Path Cottage.

My mother & I spent one night in the Bird's Nest II suite and loved our room. Very bright and sunny second floor open floor plan. Comfortable beds, very clean and affordable! Within walking distance of town, though located on a quiet dead end road and right on the shore path. Looking forward to going back, maybe this fall!
