“We'll Be Back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

We knew that a week in Bar Harbor would be incredible and finding The Holland Inn only made it better! The Inn is located just a few minutes walk to the town center, the harbor, and the Island Explorer buses. A block from a supermarket, health food store, laundromat and the on site parking added to the convenience. We were lucky that the Beech Cliff (a large three room suite) was available. Our suite was beautiful, spacious, and very tastefully appointed. The housekeeping was impeccable and everything was spotless. The Holland Inn had every available amenity to enhance one's visit. Games, books, DVDs, coffee were available at all times. The breakfasts were mind blowing. Attention was paid to accommodate individual dietary requirements. The creativity of recipes and presentation of these healthy breakfasts was a great way to begin each day. Evin, the innkeeper, is a natural. Graciously checking us in after a later than expected arrival, she got us settled in on what would soon become one of the best vacations ever. She has a wealth of information, suggestions, pamphlets, maps to help her guests get the most out of the area. She was never too busy to stop and answer the most trivial of questions. Warm, friendly, funny, caring, Evin is truly a gem and obviously loves taking care of her guests. The Holland Inn, because of Evin, should be a model B&B for the Travel Channel and Evin's breakfasts should be on the Food Network. Our only regret was having to return the room keys when the week was up. Most highly recommended!!

We stayed in the Flying Mountain room at the Holland Inn early in August 2013. Our room was very comfortably appointed and thoughtfully laid out. The innkeeper, Evin, was great. She was there when you needed her and full of useful tips and information to make sure that your trip to Bar Harbor fits your interests and needs. I also liked that the inn had 3 breakfast seating times: 730, 830, and 930. Breakfast was always delicious and filling but never left us feeling stuffed or bloated. They were always breakfasts perfect for the start to an active day and kept us going until after 2. The location was perfect - within walking distance of everything in Bar Harbor. We only used our car to explore new areas of the island.

Only a few things prevented a 5 star review. For me, the pillows were too hard. I'm a stomach sleeper and like to have at least one soft pillow in the room. I usually pack one but I've always found B&Bs to have a good mix of pillows so I didn't. Also, ice was hard to come by in the guest fridge and it would have been nice to have something in the guest room for keeping things cool. Finally, the parking lot was a little bit awkward if you weren't lucky enough to get one of the better spots - but there was still ample parking even when the inn was full.

In all, these weaknesses were all very minor. We had a wonderful stay and will likely come back on our next trip to Bar Harbor.... and there WILL be another time because the area is absolutely gorgeous and the people are all great.

If you're looking for a place to stay in Bar Harbor, I would definitely recommend that you come here. It'

We stayed 5 nights at the Holland Inn and were very glad we did. We had chosen the Beech Cliff room which had an extra sitting room and plenty of space - good for a longer visit. The rooms were very clean and well equipped. Evin is a terrific proprietor - she is available, knowledgeable of the area and an exceptional cook. The Inn is well situated making walking to most of Bar Harbor quite easy. We also headed to Acadia and Evin was knowledgeable of the park and its various trails too. A great trip and a B&B we would certainly recommend and happily return to.

We were able to book a room here at the last minute. Everything was perfect. The room was cozy, the breakfast was the BEST (delicious and healthy and accommodated everyone's special needs) and we felt very welcome. Evin is gracious and helpful and with her guidance we got the most out of our short time in Bar Harbor. The location is great; far enough from the noise but close enough to walk. The Inn is located close to a health food store and a laundromat. Highly recommended.

This was our first time to Bar Harbor as well as our first time staying at a B&B. We were greeted by Evin with a warm smile and friendly personality. She was great with information and suggested activities to do daily at breakfast. The room was spacious (Caddillac) and the very clean. We were impressed with the food and comfort of the inn. It was a short walk to downtown Bar Harbor and we cannot wait to go back!

We stayed there mid July for 2 nights. A lovely bed and breakfast. The Valley Cove room we stayed in was very large and relaxing. The breakfasts were wonderful! Nice to visit with other travelers and have a great homemade healthy breakfast. Erin is the perfect hostess always making sure you are having a good time and extremely knowledgeable about all the locations to see. She even loaned us an audio cd to listen to as we made our way around Arcadia. It is so convenient to walk downtown or over to Bar Harbor Island. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend staying here. We would love to come back!

We stayed at the Holland Inn last summer and had such a great experience we had to return this summer. Our Ship Harbor room in the Quiet Side building was spacious, with a king bed and full seating area (complete with recliner!). The only downside is that the air conditioning is fairly loud - audible even with earplugs. The staff, Milena and Georgi, do a genuinely terrific job tidying the room and bath (also spacious) daily, but the piece de resistance is, hands down, Evin's breakfasts. Great variety and just plain delicious. We bought her cookbook just to try to replicate our faves, which include her to-die-for blueberry pancakes. Evin cooks healthfully, not adding unnecessary sugar, etc., and her finished plates are photo-op worthy. She is a gracious, funny, very helpful innkeeper, and we will be back as soon as we can.

Room Tip: We prefer having a seating area, and Ship Harbor has a very comfy one (not all rooms do).
