“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

We spent 3 nights at the beautiful bar Harbor Manor, located just minutes from Acadia National Park, in October. Walking distance from so many great restaurants and grocery store, this was a fabulous place to stay. Our well equipped room was beautiful with a fireplace, fridge, coffee maker and the best bed I have stayed at in years! We thought initially that the bed was going to be too soft but we slept like rocks. The "breakfast to go" was big blueberry muffis, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice, milk and hot beverages every day...all in to go packaging to take with. Friendly, knowlegeable owner helped us so much with where to eat, where to hike in Acadia. A totall pleasure!

Room Tip: Fireplace was such a nice addition on an October trip.

My wife and i stayed at Bar Harbor Manor in Sept. for our 5th year in a row and we always look forward to our return. It is always a pleasure to stay here, Brandan and Monika are great to talk with and make us feel welcome. The rooms are always clean and kept up to date, even the exterior is great. This is always the nicest stop on our trip. The newly added breakast was nice and we were happy that it started at 8:30 unlike a lot of places where you have to get up so early. We thing that Brandan and Monika are the best innkeepers and we can't imagine having a better experiece anywhere. Jim and Sandy

This place was great, it has a bed and breakfast feel with the privacy of your own suite. Staff was very friendly on check in, told us about great places to eat and was knowledgeable about the area. Easy access to get to with a short walk into town. Good place and moderately priced. The room was cute, with a fireplace to make it more cozy, tv, and coffee maker. Bathroom was up to date and the place was very clean. Would definitely stay here again!

We recently spent 2 nights at the Bar Harbor Manor, our second stay here. Bar Harbor is beautiful in the fall so try to get there annually. We have stayed at a number of places and must say this is one of the best. No it's not a modern hustling type place, it is just what we want. It is Very clean and cozy, a peaceful location where you can get a great night's sleep. We stayed in room 2 the first time, it has a romantic fire place and the feel of a country B &B room. Our friends stayed in the hotel type room which was also clean and roomy. This time we each had a suite in the back. Their's room 30 was huge. The weather was not real cooperative, so having a place we could all gather was so helpful. They had 4 chairs in a sitting area , a large bedroom and a separate kitchen type area with a fridge sink and microwave. We were upstairs in the same building. The room was a little smaller, but there was more than enough room. There was also a fridge and microwave here. We have always been treated well by staff. There were tasty muffins, yogurt and coffee in the morning which is a welcomed treat. The location is ideal, close enough to walk most everywhere. It is close to the village green so we could walk down and catch ne bus to head out to Jordan Pond and the loop road. The guys loved that it was close enough to walk back to when they tired of shopping with us. It is also close enough to a wide variety of eating establishments, and you will have no concerns walking in this area at night. Fabulous place, we'll stay here again.

Room Tip: Room 2 is more romantic, room 30 is better if there are a few of you.

This was a last minute stop for us and the staff could not have been more helpful. They had few vacancies, but found a way to give us the rooms we needed at a nicely discounted price. This place is impeccably clean. Nice outdoor porches, top notch linens, and very helpful desk staff. The grounds and lobby area are beautiful too.

We stayed here for four nights in mid-september. We were greeted by Liz, who was so helpful and friendly. She had great advice for everything from breakfast, box lunches, hiking trails and things to do on our one rainy day. Before we went just about anywhere, we got a smiling recommendation from someone at the front desk. They were a great resource. And the coffee and blueberry muffins they put out daily were delicious. The room was comfortable and spotless. The bathrooms seemed recently remodeled. Our one small negative thought, is that it is about an 8-10 minute walk to main street. It's good that we regularly avoided that traffic and parking in town can be a nightmare, but that walk once or twice a day got a bit long. Luckily, you can get some pretty good breakfast without going too far. We definitely enjoyed our stay in bar harbor!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

after over two weeks plus, numerous hotels, B&B's and 2500 miles on a rental car,we had decided that bar harbor would be a great place to unwind for a couple of days before heading back to Canada and Denmark from Boston. We checked in and were immediately put off by the desk clerk who(in spite of the fact that I had prepaid for both rooms several weeks prior)insisted that in addition to a credit card impression she would require picture id as well. I offered her my driver's license and she informed me I had to take it out of the wallet to enable her to photocopy it. I enquired why that was necessary and she informed me that it was policy because of security and fraud concerns. We felt like we would if a state trooper had pulled us over. The next event was a severe scolding for having left my car in one of the two spots that were for registering guests. The next morning we went over to the office to get some coffee and a light breakfast and we questioned why there was no cereal (only yoghurt and muffins)We were informed they were not a B&B and they were voluntarily putting something out for their guests and it was a test and they would welcome any suggestion or feedback. They did not like our cereal suggestion. When we checked out we asked for our photocopied driver's license back as we too were concerned about security and fraud. This struck a bad note for the owners who immediately informed me that I was the most rude individual they had ever encountered in 23 years in the hospitality industry. I decided to push my luck and informed them that I had yet another suggestion and they were all ears.I suggested that most of their guests had already checked out and left the property between 6am and 8am it did not make much sense to put out the muffins at 8:30. With that, the owners went completely ballistic, repeated that I was so rude they simply could not believe their (very sensitive) ears. Mr owner, strongly supported by Mrs.owner proceeded to order us off their property and warned us never to come back. There was really nothing at all wrong with the property and it was actually quite comfortable but the owners are obviously not suited to operate the place and should seek other means of making a living. We would love to have had the same experience as Becky S (another reviewer)To one up these people,I have travelled the globe for 55years and have never encountered anyone so ill equipped to deal with the public.

Room Tip: find another place to stay.there are many many great places to stay in Bar Harbor. The economy is hea...
