“A good lunch and a fun experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

While on a cruise Bar Harbour was one of the main attractions with a Maine lobster dinner as a must. We passed this place on one of the excellent free shuttle tours of the Acadia National Park. At the end of the tour walked along and saw there was a cruise discount being offered. Our server was very friendly and pointed us in the right direction. The beer was excellent and the lobsters were very fresh and tasty. We shared the combo of chowder, mussels/clams coleslaw fries and desert which was about 12 dollars but very good value. As we left we saw the live lobsters in the tank so freshness was never in doubt! Overall this place offered good value food and drink.

“Bait and switch sign”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

Sign outside was very misleading. Looked like$9.99 but there was an almost invisible 1 making the price $19.99. We even asked about the $9.99 special, but our waitress didn't understand what we were saying, I don't think she was fluent in English.
No only was the bill a surprise the lobster roll was awful. Overlooked tough lobster.

“Nice change from cruise ship lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Sept 18
After our morning tour, most of us stayed for lunch in Bar Harbor rather than hit the buffet on board the cruise ship. Our guide recommended this rather non-descript, rustic resto. Upon entering we were interested in the lobster pound located near the front.
Our server was more interested in saving us money than overpaying. He knew that we should order the $19.99 lobster rolls for two rather than two singles which we first ordered. Others in our group enjoyed their entrees of clams and baby back pork ribs with meat dropping off the bone. Locals were ordering whole lobsters for lunch.
Seated at wooden picnic benches we had an enjoyable convivial repast.

“Worst food ever by far”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

There is a reason why there is no wait! I am certain that the food came out of a box, and it was not cheap. even the butter with the lobster was watered down.

“Decent food, good service, fair prices.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

We were looking to try lobster for a second time having been disappointed in an earlier port (on a cruise) and came across this restaurant with an outdoor lobster boiler, outdoor (and indoor) seating which offered cruise discounts. There were locals eating alongside visitors which is always a good sign.

We opted for the lobster roll, fries and cole slaw ($15.99) and drinks and were happy with everything. The waitress was friendly, service was prompt - happy diners.
