“Superb, Clean, and Quiet, + Fantastic View of the Cove”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights in the Seaview suite. We had a great porch that looked over the Salisbury Cove, just feet from the water of the Eastern Bay. Excellent scenery to see birds, the lobstermen and beautiful sunsets from the porch. High and low tides are amazing. You can watch rocks get covered as the water surrounds the cove. The view from the living room and kitchen was amazing. Very quiet and relaxing. The rooms aren't luxurious, but are comfortable, well maintained, and dated. The suite we stayed in had tons of space. Would be a great value for families, and those who want a quiet getaway. Easy access to Bar Harbor downtown (6 miles away - driving time is 10 minutes), Acadia National Park in Hull Cove Entrance (3.5 miles away - driving time is 5 minutes) and 5.7 miles (10 minutes away driving) to the best lobster pound - Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound.

Direction: If you are heading westbound on Route 3 coming from Bar Harbor, turn right onto Old Bar Harbor Road after you see "Bar Harbor Campground". If you see Best Western, you have passed the Old Bar Harbor Road. Make a right on Norway Drive and continue to the end of the road. Make a left at the T intersection. You will see Edgewater on your right after traveling 200 feet. If you are traveling eastbound on Route 3 coming from Trenton, make a left when you see "Mount Desert Island Biological Lab". Edgewater is located approximately 600 feet away on the left.

We spent two nights here as our home base for exploring Acadia National Park. Nice and quiet, clean, and comfortable. The views are great, but notice that it is partially obstructed by another cottage. Staff was friendly. Nice to park right next to the cottage too.

We enjoyed our stay here, the view is great and its away from the city yet just a short drive up the road to Bar Harbor.
Rooms are dated but clean, price was fair enough. It was basic and served its purpose.
Only negative is that we had a bit of trouble finding the place, they need to put a sign right at the road where you turn off the main highway

Room Tip: The view from the motel is just as good as the view from the cabins. This is a nice quiet place.

I read the reviews about this place so I was ready for the "dated" unit. It was like a cabin in the woods with a fabulous screened porch and great view of the water.

Pluses:

great view
easy to get to and from Bar Harbor
fireplace
comfy bed
screen porch
fully equiped kitchen

Minuses:

someone above us that you could hear walking around
no deadbolt lock or additional lock other than key lock
parking right off of the street
no paper products except for toilet paper (asked and got tissues)
uneven floors

overall a good experience and nice place to stay.

The Edgewater has the WOW! factor when you walk into the room. It is so clean, and nice and homey. We chose one of the hotel rooms, bottom floor because we wanted a fireplace. The cabins with the fireplaces were booked, and we are extremely glad we did.

These are ROOMY with a sliding glass door overlooking the water (Salisbury Cove). It was cool to see birds, the lobstermen and beautiful sunsets. Even though the sun was off to the left, the colors over the water were beautiful - and after sunset the stars! WOW! High and Low tides are amazing. You can watch rocks get covered as the tides comes in. And it goes FAST!

We went during off peak (first week of June), so it wasn't crowded anyplace we went in Bar Harbor and it was quiet at the Edgewater grounds.

Rooms are clean, comfy, modern and roomy. The fireplace was an excellent bonus. You can only burn Duraflame logs which they sell in the office. I just brought a case from home and we had a fire every night. I found it you burn two logs at a time it is a better fire - more like I am used to. In our room as you walk in the door you walked into the kitchen, full kitchen. The only thing I had to bring was a sharp knife just in case theirs wasn't. They even have a wine opener! They even supply dish washing soap to do the dishes. The refrigerator is QUIET!!! A huge bonus. The bedroom/living room is set up well. The COMFY bed, ours was king size - loved it. The living room has the fireplace, couch (which is EASY to move) so you can look out over the water AND enjoy the fireplace at the same time, and a recliner. There is a TV on top of the large dresser. Unfortunately we had rainy weather and was not able to use the balcony.

The heating/cooling unit - I didn't even think it was on it was so quiet. It is up really high on the wall so there is a remote to work it. There is a separate heater for the bathroom - so make sure you read the owners' directions on how to work the heater. I thought the thermostat in the bathroom was the control for the unit in the living room/bedroom - and I was mistaken. We kind of were too warm the first night. (Yes, women forget to read and follow directions too! haha)

The location is excellent. Bar Harbor, Acadia - just a short drive.

The grounds look smaller than they look online, the buildings are a little more bunched together than I imagined. But it doesn't seem like a problem. CLEAN everywhere.

All in all, I am glad we had to get the hotel. The room attendants were excellent - kept our rooms CLEAN. I just love this place. We will definitely return when in Acadia and Bar Harbor (um... sorry...Bah Habah) again.

Room Tip: You can't go wrong!

We stayed three nights in one of the motel rooms in July 2012 and enjoyed it very much. Our room had a full kitchen that was clean and well-equipped. Being about a fifteen minute drive from “downtown” Bar Harbor was nice because we wanted to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist scene. There is a laundry facility on-site, but it consists of just a single washer and dryer, so for us it was more efficient to use the laundromat in Bar Harbor.

The highlight at Edgewater is the view from the room – it really is fabulous. We sat on our deck every morning and had breakfast, which was delightful.

Would have rated this place 5 stars, but they do allow smoking on the grounds. So while there is no smoking in the rooms, you can get a roomful of smoke if someone on a deck is smoking and the wind is blowing the right (or wrong!) way.

We stayed in the motel for a week and we loved every moment. The room was very large with a full kitchen which was cleaned daily, in fact it was extremely clean. All rooms have a lovely view of the Atlantic, the water was only fifty feet from the balcony of the motel. The location is excellent for visiting Acadia National Park which has spectacular walks. Nearby town Bar Harbor is within easy reach. An on site laundry facility is also very useful. The property is family run and the attention to detail from the owners is excellent. One of the owners is available twelve hours a day. We were sorry to leave this wonderful location.

Room Tip: Motel rooms all have very near views of the water and all have balconies and outdoor furniture perfe...
