The Edgewater has the WOW! factor when you walk into the room. It is so clean, and nice and homey. We chose one of the hotel rooms, bottom floor because we wanted a fireplace. The cabins with the fireplaces were booked, and we are extremely glad we did.
These are ROOMY with a sliding glass door overlooking the water (Salisbury Cove). It was cool to see birds, the lobstermen and beautiful sunsets. Even though the sun was off to the left, the colors over the water were beautiful - and after sunset the stars! WOW! High and Low tides are amazing. You can watch rocks get covered as the tides comes in. And it goes FAST!
We went during off peak (first week of June), so it wasn't crowded anyplace we went in Bar Harbor and it was quiet at the Edgewater grounds.
Rooms are clean, comfy, modern and roomy. The fireplace was an excellent bonus. You can only burn Duraflame logs which they sell in the office. I just brought a case from home and we had a fire every night. I found it you burn two logs at a time it is a better fire - more like I am used to. In our room as you walk in the door you walked into the kitchen, full kitchen. The only thing I had to bring was a sharp knife just in case theirs wasn't. They even have a wine opener! They even supply dish washing soap to do the dishes. The refrigerator is QUIET!!! A huge bonus. The bedroom/living room is set up well. The COMFY bed, ours was king size - loved it. The living room has the fireplace, couch (which is EASY to move) so you can look out over the water AND enjoy the fireplace at the same time, and a recliner. There is a TV on top of the large dresser. Unfortunately we had rainy weather and was not able to use the balcony.
The heating/cooling unit - I didn't even think it was on it was so quiet. It is up really high on the wall so there is a remote to work it. There is a separate heater for the bathroom - so make sure you read the owners' directions on how to work the heater. I thought the thermostat in the bathroom was the control for the unit in the living room/bedroom - and I was mistaken. We kind of were too warm the first night. (Yes, women forget to read and follow directions too! haha)
The location is excellent. Bar Harbor, Acadia - just a short drive.
The grounds look smaller than they look online, the buildings are a little more bunched together than I imagined. But it doesn't seem like a problem. CLEAN everywhere.
All in all, I am glad we had to get the hotel. The room attendants were excellent - kept our rooms CLEAN. I just love this place. We will definitely return when in Acadia and Bar Harbor (um... sorry...Bah Habah) again.
