“Free Scenic Transportation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

We had a little bit of a hard time finding where to get on the bus, but did manage to find it at the Village Green, several blocks from the pier at a park on the right. This is a fantastic service provided to see many great locations on the island, especially Asticou Azalea Garden--just ask the drive to pull over so you can jump out--a sight not to be missed.

“Easy way to get around”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

The island explorer is a fantastic alternative to driving. It´s great that such a system exists, if only this system were in every national park. We parked the car when we got to Bar Harbor and never used it the entire five days on the island. It´s very practical if you have bikes because you don´t have to drive on the busy streets to get to a park entrance, the Island explorer can take you. We found the drivers to be friendly and knowledgeable. Please be aware though, that this is not a tour. These are buses that get you from point A to point B. We found the routes covered everywhere we wanted to go and the times timetables were regular and consistant. Park the car and keep the island clean and green! Use the bus!!

“Leave Your Car in the Lot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

These free shuttles allow you to leave your car in a convenient spot wherever you desire and take shuttles all over the island and into the national park. For a day of hiking or biking, it is really convenient. Just make sure they are still running if you make a fall or spring visit.

“Just Ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

First of all, the government having the parks closed was not their fault. They were very nice to take 5.00 off each ticket due to not being able to go to Cadillac Mt. They took us around the area which was ok. The tour guide unfortunately liked to talk about his life and family more than tour highlights. I am sure it would have been much better if we were able to go to Cadillac Mt.

“Sad Park was Closed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

Acadia was closed because of the government shutdown but our guide gave an entertaining tour of the island. Since she lived on the island for many years she shared stories of residents of the island along with interesting facts on the park and area.
