We traveled to Bar Harbor and found the Park Entrance after a very bad experience at another motel nearby. (Knights Inn/White Birches-Ellsworth/Bar Harbor) . We walked away from Knights Inn (it was filthy) and since most places were booked, the Tourist Info Center sent us to Park Entrance since they had a room available. It was an older motel but clean, quiet and the view from the patio of Frenchman's Bay was breathtaking. Their continental breakfast was better than the average also. It included yogurt and fresh fruit. The room had a mini-fridge and the lobby had an ice machine. There was a nice pool which we did not get to use but it looked nice.

We went to bar harbor for a weekend away. When we pulled up I wasn't sure we had the right place. Very run down and no sign on the building only one sign at one entrance and thier are 3 entrance's. When I open the door to our first room you could tell it wasn't going to be good the first thing I did was to look for bed bugs. I didn't find any thank goodness. Then I noticed thier wasn't an air conditioner in the room so I asked for a new room. The new rooms door didn't touch the ground when closed ther was about 1/2 in of open space. The room looked like it took 2 min to clean and we found black spots on the cealing, patio furniture broken, pices of food crumbs every where and used q tips on the floor. Also most of the things were not plugged in. Pool was not fun one small ladder into pool( not heated), they have a hot tub but it looked like it hasn't been open for years. They say they have wifi but only in the lobby. Every time I would call and ask the front desk about things to do no one had a CLUE. Like that weekend was all there first time in the town. When someone called for me the guy had no idea how to transfer the call. We stayed here because we got a major discout and tried looking for something else but couldn't. Would never have paid full price for this place ever!!!!! The property is wonderful but that's it if they would work on it this place could be a gold mine.

We stayed here for a week - and it was just as nice as anyone could ask for ! The view , the lawm , the people that worked there , I could go on and on . Its a nice , older motel , but sometimes thats what you want . The new sterile " stamped out " high rises , just dont compare . This property was just laid out perfectly and was a joy to stay at ! " Kudos " to the Office staff and the cleaning crew ! It was clean , comfortable , and every person there was friendly . I will surely reccomend it to others !

This place looked great in the photographs on their website and wasn't cheap to lodge there, but when we got there we realized the place is a dump! There's a great view of the ocean, and its just across the street from the entrance to Acadia National Park (which is awesome) but whoever runs this place has no idea how to run a motel. The facility is run down, continental breakfast meant pre-packaged food in the lobby, we didn't find the receptionists to be very friendly.

With all the hotel/motels in the Bar Harbor area, don't waste your time with this one.

  • Liked — The view, proximity to Acadia Nat'l Park
  • Disliked — The run down condition, lack of aesthetic qualities in the room.

Checked online ahead of time but didn't book as we were unsure of arrival day. It sounded good BUT the only good thing was the friendly staff and the view. Patio screen was all holes, needed replacement which they removed so we had no screen to open - NO AC either. Rugs need replacing, worn and stained badly. DON'T LOOK AT THE OUTSIDE OF BUILDING - VERY RUNDOWN. The only PLUS was a comfortable bed, clean sheets and view. Wouldn't recommend unless they do some repairing, especially for the price. If we paid well under $100 MIGHT be willing to overlook major faults.

  • Liked — the view and convenient access to acadia national park
  • Disliked — the apparent deterioration of the place

We stayed here for two nights in August of 2008 and for the price the motel was a true value. It is not new or fancy, but it was quiet. Many places to stay in Bar Harbor are not quiet due to being set directly next to the busy Route 3/Eden Road. The Park Entrance Oceanfront is set back away from the traffic noise and the patio of our room had two chairs and a table to enjoy outdoor relaxation with a view of the water. The front desk personnel were very nice and the offerings for breakfast were fruit, coffee and danish. There was a outdoor pool overlooking the water which we did not use due to our busy sightseeing schedule. As stated in previous reviews, the entrance to Acadia National Park couldn't be any closer. If you want an upscale place to stay you can and will pay two to three times as much elsewhere. If you want a basic, clean, quiet room with a view, this is the place to stay!

  • Liked — Location, view, value for money paid and friendly front desk personnel.
