“Fantastic stay, even better location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013 via mobile

This lovely B&B is situated right in the middle of Bar Harbor town center, but tucked inside a quiet side street. Steps away from the water, bike/canoe rentals, shoppings, and restaurants.

The B&B is beautifully decorated, rooms are clean and beautiful. We have room 6, comes with a sizable bathroom, all true to the pictures posted at their website.

Breakfast is something to look forward to every morning. A different kind of freshly baked scones or muffin can be expected everyday. Their scones are out of this word - crusty on the outside, moist on the in side - amazing! During breakfast, one of the owner,Teri, walks around greeting guests and answering questions on where to go and offering suggestions on how to plan the day.

There is also a 24 hr pantry that's always stocked with goodies such as cookies, brownies, apples, coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. Great for an afternoon munchies or late night snack!

The staff give guests plenty of space and privacy but whenever we needed someone, we can always find the other inn manager, Susan, around one corner or the other.

Overall a great experience! A much more enjoyable stay then some of the big name hotel chains. Would definitely stay at the Bass Cottage Inn again next time we visit Bar Harbor, and would definitely recommend to our friends and family!

Thanks to these guests for taking the time to write such a detailed, well-considered review of their stay at The Bass Cottage Inn, Bar Harbor.

We know from experience that it takes a fine mix of details to make a great holiday experience - location, food, comfort, cleanliness and just the appropriate amount of personal attention. We're glad they appreciated all the things you can get at a luxury inn like The Bass Cottage Inn vs. impersonal hotel chains.

Thanks for sharing!

The location is perfect- you are a stones throw from multiple restaurants and the water. The inn is beautiful and the common areas are tastefully decorated. Unfortunately we missed the wine and cheese while we were here. The only reason I cannot give the Bass Cottage Inn 5 stars is because our room was so small we could hardly fit our two suitcases in there. As we were travelling for two weeks and attending a wedding I needed to be able to reorganise- and with my suitcase open I wasn't able to open the door. The bathroom sink in the bedroom is a nice touch- unfortunately I found it hard as a contact lense wearer to get close enough to the mirror to take them out.

Thanks to these folks from Munich, Germany for writing a review covering all they liked about The Bass Cottage Inn. We have a range of rooms -- from large & luxurious to cute & cosy - with a range of amenities and price-points. Travelers who will be coming with weeks worth of luggage might consider a larger room. Thanks for your review.

If you want a clean, quiet place to stay but want to be within walking distance to shops, dining, and the coast, this is it!
We stayed in room 6 which was just perfect. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in while away from home. The inn was comfortable and so quiet at night.
The entire staff-from Terri, Jeff and Susan to the hostesses were super pleasant and always willing to ask about your day and give tips and ideas of what to do while there.
The breakfasts were amazing. If you have any questions or would like something cooked a little different, they are accomodating. The 24 hour pantry of drinks and cookies was a big hit!
The whole inn was very well kept and relaxing. We are already planning another visit. Simply amazing!

Room Tip: Room 6 was quiet and there is a claw foot tub in the bathroom!

The staff was amazing, they take their responsibility to the guest seriously and genuinely want you to have a good stay. The inn is beautiful and retains much of the history through its revitalization. Room 6 was fabulous, and i would love to try out some of the other rooms. I liked that the other guests were quiet as well. The food was amazing, I recommend the lemon pancakes or the lobster quiche. I can not wait to go back.

We are happy that these guests enjoyed the quintessential Bar Harbor/Acadia experience: the natural beauty of Acadia National Park and the quiet comfort at The Bass Cottage Inn. Food is an important part of the guest experience and executive chef/innkeeper Teri oversees the menu and its execution. "Perfect" is hard to attain, but we strive for excellence every day. Thanks for submitting your review.

We stayed one night in this tastefully decorated inn. The happy hour was a little disappointing, just veggies for munchies served with wine, most everyone grabbed their wine and either returned to their room or camped out in diff areas downstairs so there wasn't any socializing.
The breakfast more than made up for it with chorizo hash and eggs served in a bright and cheerful dining area.
Our bed/room was very comfortable, but seemed we had no cross ventilation from the windows ( and no thermostat), so a bit warm in our room. The place is well run and clean, having said that, we felt it a little formal and stuffy for our taste, maybe it was the clientele that particular night...

Many thanks for these folks from New Orleans for staying with us and taking the time to write about their stay. While they seemed to enjoy their visit they did mention that the wine hour wasn't lively enough for them. Clearly, this depends on the mood and needs of all the guests. Very frequently there is lively conversation. We let the guests dictate the pace. And, we offer a variety of wine hour snacks including crudites for guests who increasingly are looking for something light. But other nights we offer spinach pie, hummus, artisan cheese plates, etc. However, it is a snack to accompany the complimentary wine...not a meal.

This place has pedigree. My fiance and I spent three wonderful nights in Bass cottage and we cannot say enough positive things about it. The Inn is beautiful, the staff is charming, the breakfasts are sensational and the rooms are tastefully, timelessly comfortable. The complimentary wine and fresh baking were much appreciated, and even though we were in the smallest room (you must book in advance!) we couldn't find fault.

A truly first class bed and breakfast experience in a very special location.

If you're into running, you MUST go for an early morning jog through the mist along the shore path.

Room Tip: Room 8 is a little on the small side if you have big bags. If you can, it's worth treating yours...
