“Better Than What I Expected! Would Stay Here Again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2011

I'm not usually one to book small privately owned motels, so I was a bit worried before we came here. However, based on other Trip Advisor reviews, I booked this motel and I'm glad I did. For the type of motel it is, it was top notch. It was super clean, all the fixtures and furnishings were new and well taken care of. The room we stayed in was really spacious. In fact, I was surprised at how much space we had. The property was pretty quiet. We slept with the windows open each night, and none of us were disturbed by any noise. (Our particular unit was towards the back half of the property, so I don't know if it was the same towards the front or closer to the pool.) There wasn't any breakfast provided, but they did offer juice and coffee in the lobby in the mornings. We didn't swim in the pool, but from what we could tell, it was clean and well maintained. My girls did play on the swingset, and that was a great way to burn some energy. Another plus for this motel is that the free shuttle stops right out front. We rode it several times into downtown Bar Harbor and it was very convenient.

My only complaint was that until we got there, my impression was that it would be easier to get to the carriage road from the motel property. First there's a hike through the woods, which was pretty rocky and uphill. That brings you to an actual road on which you must hike 1/2 mile to get to the carriage road. The way the description reads on the website made it seem a lot easier than it actually was.

All in all, this was a great place to stay. It's not fancy, but for a motel, it's great. The room was spacious and well appointed, the entire property was clean. I would definitely stay here again.

We were here for three nights and enjoyed our stay very much. The location is excellent and the ambience is perfect - almost like camping but with all the comforts to which we've become attached. Although all the King rooms were gone, our room with two doubles near the front of the property was very comfortable, quiet and clean.
We booked the package that included breakfast across the street and two dinners. While the package made it convenient, it limits your options for trying different restaurants - we would do it differently next time.

We took advantage of the path at the rear of the property to get to Acadia and the carriage roads - what a nice feature! We also enjoyed the pool, sheltered from view from the road by beautiful arborvitaes.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front of the property are closest to the pool and to the office (for morning coffee...

The rooms were very clean, and the rates were reasonable. This is not a luxury hotel, but it has everything you need for a fun trip. The hotel includes a large bike locker, which is convenient for storing bikes used for traveling downtown.

We stayed here at the end of June. Yes, you can walk right from the parking lot & be on a carriage trail in 5 minutes. The shuttle to BH stops right in front of the Hotel. The rooms are small, but spotless! This is a very well run motel. The staff is fantastic as well. The coffee is the lobby is some of the best I have had a hotel like this. The beds were great and our room backed up to a wooded area.
This is a great place with excellent value. Easy access to the carriage trails makes it great for cyclists. The size of the room is the only thing I can say wasn't perfect about our stay at the Bar Harbor Motel.

We just stayed for a couple days and loved having the bus stop right outside. We didn't have to deal with parking in Bar Harbor! It was clean, simple and convenient.!

Room Tip: We have family of 5 and the 2 connected rooms were very convenient.

On the positive side, the motel was clean. Service was courteous and efficient. The setting and landscaping are appealing. Access to Acadia National Park couldn't be more convenient.

On the negative side, our two-bedroom suite had only one air conditioner, located in my room. The air conditioner was noisy and drafty. We dispensed with air conditioning after the first night and relied on open windows. Fortunately, the nights were cool, so we had a pleasant stay. We really would have appreciated a microwave oven, but none are available, either in the rooms or the lobby. The rooms are rather small and meagerly furnished considering their cost.
