“Great simple Maine cottage welcomes dogs!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2011

We are staying here right now and this is the perfect Acadia cottage for us and our dog.. They are truly friendly and dog friendly, so we really feel at home.. Max our yellow lab loves it too because there is a big field of beautiful wildflowers where he can run. The cottage is just perfect-- simple, impeccably clean and everything works well. Bring baking pans and extra cooking equipment if you want to cook anything fancy, but that is certainly no problem for much less than $100 a night in season. The field is much bigger and the view much better than it looks on their website. We will definitely be back.

My husband and I stayed at a cottage at Hutchin's Cottages in June 2011 for a long weekend. We had previously come to Bar Harbor and stayed at Rose Eden cottages but we found out that they only allow one pet so we went to Hutchins with both our dogs. The people at Hutchins were extremely friendly and helpful. The price was great and the cottage was way bigger than I expected. More like a mini house. When we had stayed at Rose Eden the cottage was the size of a postage stamp, our cottage at Hutchins had a bathroom, a seperate bedroom with a king size bed, a living room/dining room area, and a kitchen with stove, refrigerator, and microwave. We also had a really nice screened in porch that looked out onto a big field of wildflowers with the mountains of Acadia National Park in the background. I would stay here again just for the view. It was absolutely gorgeous. The cottages are only a mile and a half from the entrance of Acadia National Park and within walking distance to Udder Heaven which has ice cream/coffee/bagels/BBQ stuff. It's within driving distance of many seafood places too.
The facilities themselves were definitely outdated in the cottage but everything worked. The bed was a tad hard but we survived. There is plenty of storage space and closet space if you are planning on spending awhile there and buy groceries (we did not). I believe some of the cottages also have fireplaces (ours did not) and there is a heated swimming pool (we didn't use it).

We found out about this place from another motel when we asked if there were any cottages that took animals. We vacationed with our cat and the staff was very accomodating, leaving fresh towels and garbage bags on the little screen porch so our cat wouldn't get out when we weren't there! It's so quiet and quaint, can't recommend it highly enough. There's a ton of blueberry bushes behind the cottages and set back from the main road. We would sit out on the screen porch at night and watch the cars driving down from Cadallac Mountain after the sun set. Also, the pool is great and the lady who runs the place is so sweet.

We were fortunate to get last minute reservations with Judy at Hutchins Mtn View Cottages, just a couple of minutes from the park's entrance. Clean, comfortable accommodations at a great price for a one-room cottage, king size bed and a nice view of Acadia's mountains ($68/night - last week in off-season, a good time to see Arcadia before the crowds arrive). Hospitality from Judy and staff was appreciated. Wouldn't hesitate to return to Hutchins. Make sure you also try the lobster at the Chart House just down the road on Rt 3.

Our family booked two cottages here for two nights in September. The staff are so friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome from the time I first phoned them to book our nights there. The cottages are basic, but very comfortable and cozy. The cottages are well maintained, and what a surprise to find LCD TV's in each room! Wi-fi is available too. The kitchens have a good variety of eating and cooking utensils. It was our favorite place of all the places we stayed while in Maine and New Hampshire. We would have loved to stay longer, and would certainly return there in a heartbeat.

My husband, mom, dad and I, along with 4 dogs stayed here in September. The cottages are not fancy yet they are homey. The hospitality of the folks who run it was fabulous! They are on 20 plus acres and have a great place for the dogs to run. There were several other dogs there while we were there and all of them got along wonderfully. I would highy recommend Hutchins to anyone looking for a comfortable, friendly place to stay! We drove up from North Carolina and the Maine hospitality shown to us made us want to come back as soon as possible. The view of Cadillac Mountain was just awesome.

We LOVED this place--stumbled on it by accident when we saw their "Vacancy" sign. The cabins have screened porches with a great view of the mountains in Acadia National Park--perfect for relaxing with a cup of coffee in the morning. They are set back on the edge of a field, far enough away from Hwy 3 so you don't hear the traffic at night. The cozy cabins have TVs with cable and small kitchens. The pool was clean -- no bugs or leaves. Price was only about $70/night. This is definitely a place that will become a tradition for us.
