“Great location, needs work”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2015

Hotel is located within easy walking distance of downtown Bar Harbor. Parking downtown can be difficult so the location is a bonus. Free breakfast has lots of options but it is located across the street in a converted cafe. We were in the older section. The room was clean and roomy but the exterior needs some TLC.

The smoke detector is located right above the bathroom door. A sign in the bathroom says: "Keep door closed. Steam can trigger smoke detector." I like taking long, hot baths but not this trip.

The room was fine, a little dingy, but clean. It was quiet and the location is good, you’re a 10 minute walk from everything. The coffee in the lobby is gross – so avoid that, but the people are nice. Not bad for a quick weekend, don’t expect a 5 star stay. We wouldn't mind staying here again due to the cost & location. The service was good.

Room Tip: Get a top floor room, the bottom floor really has a motel feel to it.

I stayed at this motel twice so far. The first time I had a cabin in the back, which was old and run down but with a kitchem area. But that was about three years ago and could have changed. This time I stayed in a regular room on the ground floor which offered a fridge and microwave. You have to access your room from the parking lot, which I usually avoid due to security reasons. But in this small town I had no issues with that. The room was rather old and a little worn, but everything worked and was in good shape.
Now they even offer breakfast across the street in another building. Breakfast was definitely above motel standards with lots of choices both hot and cold. And I know, what I'm talking about, because I stay at motels very often.
The motel staff was friendly and welcoming. I would stay here again, because I liked the location just a small walk from downtown Bar Harbor and dining and shopping options. It was also just a short drive towards Acadia National Park.

This hotel was in a perfect location for us and was also in the right price range. We had a nice room with a small kitchen in it. The breakfast that the hotel offered was very good. The selling point on this hotel that it is within walking distance to downtown Bar Harbor. It was a short 5-10 minute walk on nice streets. With parking being so tight in the down town this hotel made it perfect (it is very hard to find a parking spot and there is a 2-3 hour maximum on each spot). When visiting Bar Harbor again we will surely be staying here again.

Room Tip: We had a room with a small kitchen that were located next to the hotel in small double room building...

His hotel is such a bad hotel from the rooms with no phones to the GM who thinks he knows everything clearly has no idea what the hell he is doing. Something broke in my room I called for maintenance, and supposedly the " manager" showed up. A manager the guy named ken stood there and looked around with a dumbfounded look on his face. The only thing that was good about that place was the breakfast. The girls were lovely I think there names were Kelsey, Lori and Frances very friendly and willing to please. The spread of food was good for a free breakfast, they definitely deserve some recognition. Other than that will never stay here again.

Stephen N, General Manager at Quality Inn, responded to this review, December 10, 2014
I am sorry you were displeased with your stay at our property, but a little confused over exactly what was wrong. We do have telephones in all our guest rooms, complet with dilaing instructuions and directories for in-house and outside calls. Our Chief Engineer's name is Ken and I'm assuming that is who responded to your request for assistance. We do have a detailed system for keeping track of maintenance requests and issues, and follow up on any problems that are not resolved to the guests' satisfaction at the time. I wish I had had the chance to meet with you personally or the inadequate response to the issue had been brought to the Front Desk for further action at the time, as it is our desire to rectify any problems at the time and ensure the guest's satisfaction while they are still with us. Again, my apologies, and I hope we may be able to better accommodate you at some time in the future.

Easy in and out, within walking distance to downtown, and the cleanliness is exceptional. We walked downtown every afternoon and set out to explore Acadia every morning. This hotel is right in the middle of it all! Highly recommend staying here!

Don't be dissuaded by the appearance of an older hotel.....stayed here October 2014 for 2 nights to enjoy Bar Harbor, Acadia NP & fall foliage. Hotel front desk staff was very friendly and helpful at check in. Yes, it is an older hotel but New England is full of older hotels. The room was very clean and comfortable...albeit the bathroom was small but accommodating to what bathroom needs one may have.......toilet, shower & brushing your teeth. The breakfast across the street in a separate building is very good. Who cares that you have to walk across the street to eat !!!!! The staff kept bringing freshly made food out from the kitchen and the guests kept devouring it!! Breakfast staff were also friendly when they had time to talk.

If your needs are a 5 star hotel with valet parking, candles, rose pedals and a wait staff totally committed to your every need then don't choose this hotel. If your needs are a good clean room at a reasonable price with a good full breakfast then this is your place. This hotel is close enough to town to walk if desired & the internet was working fine. Our room was on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator.......not a big deal to us (gee, we had to walk up a few steps - the exercise is good for you).

We are retired (58 & 63) and would stay here again.
