We had an issue with our other hotel (The Atlantic Oceanside Hotel), so we had to spend one night here instead last week. I asked for a pet friendly room and had no problems getting it here. The two hotels cost about the same for a pet friendly room in August, and the pet friendly rooms are about the same quality. The Quality Inn has a very convenient location - only a 10 minute walk to the main Bar Harbor area (and there are sidewalks throughout the walk), and a 3 minute drive to one of the entrances of Acadia.

As soon as you walk into the room, you get hit with a strong musty smell. Its worse than (and not) the wet dog smell - its the old, moldy smell. Luckily, the walls are fairly sound proof for the quality of the hotel, so you don't hear the people next to you as much.

The room with a king size bed is extremely small, so that you don't have any floor space to lay out more than one suitcase. Oh, and when you shower, you must close the bathroom door completely because the steam from the shower would set off the smoke alarm. Weird, and kind of annoying, but we could work around that. The room is not cleaned well - we found cobwebs in the corners and both a sesame seed and an ant in the bed! It makes you wonder why they charge you an extra fee to cover the "extra cleaning" that is required for having the dog in the room.

The room had a mini fridge and a microwave. The fridge was probably about 55-60 degrees, so don't expect too much, but your drinks would be pretty cool. The microwave did work to heat up a snack that we packed for a hike. The free breakfast was pretty good and included hard boiled eggs, waffles (make your own - 2 waffle irons), yogurt cups, and fresh fruit. I

Pros:
great location
pet friendly rooms
fridge and microwave
free breakfast that has make your own waffles!
decently soundproof walls

Cons:
dirty/musty rooms
very small rooms - no walking space
uncomfortable beds

Room Tip: Pet friendly rooms in building 3 are sectioned off and smell musty. Ask for a room in the main build...

This was the perfect place to stay for our Bar Harbor vacation! Many hotels in the area are extremely expensive and don't offer what this place does! We found the prices very reasonable, and this hotel is just a 5 minute walk to downtown where all the shops and restaurants are. Not only was the location great, but it also offered free parking, free in-room wifi, and a delicious complimentary hot breakfast! The room was more than enough for us, it had a mini fridge in it, and we found the room to be very clean and modern. Bar Harbor is a beautiful little town and we talk about returning again and staying at the Quality Inn!

The rooms were clean and the breakfast was excellent. It is within walking distance from downtown. The property is dated and the bathrooms are small. If you need the WiFi forget it. It rarely works. We were there three days and had to walk to the lobby to use the computer.

Location perfect! Just off ME 3. You can walk into Bar Harbor proper, which we did. Purpose of trip = visit Acadia NP. Proximity to Acadia entrances great. Now hotel: 1) Check in - I got a rate that I paid up front via credit card (charges executed to CC account prior to our departure. When I explained this to hotel staff at check in, I "read" a condescending body language. Staff polite but facial expression bothered me; 2) room spacious and fully equipped with frog and microwave; plenty of towels, sundries; 3) We stayed 4 nights. Housekeeping replenished all necessities; 4) Check out - fast.

Room Tip: Wifi seemed busy in the early evening. I guess due to heavy traffic by other guests. Other than th...

Our family of 3 stayed here for 3 nights in August 2014 during a visit to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The room was on the first floor and had a nice convenient parking space right outside the door. There is also a second floor with steps to a walkway at the back of the building where you will find access to the 2nd floor rooms. This faces a somewhat dark wooded area at the back of the property and you may want to ask for 1st floor if this is an issue to you. On the plus side, these rooms have a private balcony. Our room provided ample space with very comfortable beds and pillows. The bathroom is pretty small, but I traveled with my wife and daughter and it was never too much of an issue. There is a decent-sized in-room safe which is a plus for securing your valuable electronics when venturing into town. I highly recommend walking into town rather than driving as the walk is not that far and traffic and parking in town is a real bear. A drive straight down Kebo Street (which is the one in front of the hotel) will get you to the Park Loop Drive only a couple miles away. In the morning, there is a building across the street offering a very nice breakfast buffet that has enough variety to satisfy almost anyone. The nice thing is that there is tons of seating and we never had an issue finding a table whenever we went (unlike many other places we've stayed). Food and beverage were constantly replenished and we never had to wait. Just make sure you leave a tip for the staff in the jar on your way out.

I had originally booked another hotel several miles outside of town and after realizing I had booked the wrong dates, had to find another hotel. I am so happy I made the mistake as the location of Quality Inn was so much more convenient. You absolutely cannot go wrong by staying here if value AND convenience are your concerns when staying in Bar Harbor.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the first floor in them main building for convenient parking directly outside of y...

The location on Kebo Street was excellent for a brief walk to the harbor. It is very close to Acadia National Park entrances, plus for us. Just a scenic drive on a coastal road from the hotel. Rooms tended to be small, but adequate and very clean. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was as most Choice Hotels offer, good and hot and quick. Dining areas were clean and assistants helpful, refilling chafing dishes often.
