“old hotel but clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

Our room was in a separate building and it was quiet and very clean. When I was trying to make a reservation from home the manager was very helpful and nice. The hotel is close to the downtown area and it does not provide breakfast but there is a restaurant across the street. The hotel is very old and could use some renovations. Kitchenettes are very small and not well equipped. Don't trust your GPS trying to find this hotel.

This Quality Inn was well worth the stay. The room was clean. The bathroom tile was a little worn but other than that okay. The beds and pillows were great. Nice staff as well. I would return. It's a very quite hotel even though it's at a busy intersection. You can walk to downtown if you are up for a little walk but it's really not far at all. We just left our car at the hotel.

Room Tip: Our room was in the back, which was quite. However you give up a balcony if you choose the front of...

We arrived in Bar Habour with no reservation. All the inns were fully booked so we tried our luck at the Quality Inn which was a 7-10 walk to the restaurants/shops. The receptionist, Mac, was very helpful and even found us a room on the ground floor as I asked. You will find lots of leaflets/maps etc in your room that you can take away - great if you've not had time to go to the tourist office.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms easier if you have large bags. The walk to town is really short.

We spent three night there while exploring Acadia National Park and had an overall pretty positive experience.
Pros: Very good location, within walking distance from everything in Bar Harbor, however in the quiet zone. Close to Acadia NP entrance. Comfortable beds. Affordable, comparing to many other properties in Bar Harbor.
Cons: no breakfast (a couple of good cafes nearby though), free but slow and often dropping connection WiFi

The Quality Inn in Bar Harbor is within walking distance of downtown, so parking for restaurants and shopping was never a problem. Acadia National Park was about fifteen minutes away. The hotel room was not too small, the bed was comfortable, and there was ample closet and drawer space. We enjoyed sitting on our deck in the evenings, even though we overlooked the road. For the reasonable rates just before Labor Day weekend we would stay there again.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have private balconies; first floor rooms have no outside sitting area.

Stayed 3 nights here, as we were planning a trip to Acadia. The location is very convenient as you can walk to Bar Harbor downtown. The room was clean and basic. Wifi is very slow. No breakfast provided but there's free coffee and tea. There's a cute diner opposite the hotel tat serves breakfast and pack lunch for you. Overall, it's a basic hotel, for few nights stay to visit Acadia.

The location is very convenient as you can walk to downtown (although I’d guess few would do that), and only minutes away from one of Acadia National Park’s entrances. It’s an older hotel with small rooms and an updated bathroom with plenty of counter space, good water pressure and no problems getting plenty of hot water. The toilet was clogged but the staff promptly cleared it. However, it remained sluggish during the rest of our stay. A ceiling light was out and they replaced it the next day. A floor lamp needed to be dragged over to where the desk was and then dragged back after using. Two light switches were in locations that weren’t the most convenient. A tiny bolt lock on the room door had cut a groove in the door jamb so the door could be opened even with the bolt in place. The room has free Wi-Fi, a microwave, and a good-size fridge. A plus is a free safe that’s large enough to hold a laptop computer. You can get a free Wall Street Journal at the front desk which we didn’t know about until the middle of the week as they’d be out by the time we’d get back to the hotel at night, and early morning the paper hadn’t yet arrived (this is a very minor point!), and free coffee is available in the lobby. It’s a shame to have to pay $125 - $134 a night just for a bed and bath; 8 years ago we paid $80/night here so we saw a 50% jump in that time. And this was one of the lesser expensive AAA 3-star hotels in this area. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Most Quality Inns (and many area hotels) offer free breakfast; this one doesn’t so you need to factor in another $20-32 for breakfast for two (what we paid around the area).

Room Tip: Get a ground floor room where you can drive up to the door for loading/unloading.
