We stayed at Seaside for a few nights in early Sept and it was fantastically relaxing and pleasingly just as advertised on their website. Gail made us very welcome and the cottage was really well fitted with everything you could need (including a mixer to whip up cream for blueberry pie!). There's a lovely outside deck with a barbecue, great for taking in the view. It's beautifully located on the cove with rowing boats available and you can get a great view of the various shores from the middle of the cove.
Bar Harbor we thought might be quite busy (actually it's a quieter town than we'd anticipated) so wanted somewhere more remote and quiet. This is perfect for relaxing and getting away from it all. It's a very quiet and peaceful location, with lots of wildlife to see. The island of Mount Desert is a great destination as it's not very large and the roads weren't busy (at least in our experience, might be different in high season).
Worth doing some exploration on restaurant options as there are not many places outside of Bar Harbor itself.
Highly recommend Seaside Cottages, the place was spotless and very well equipped. If we vacation to Bar Harbor again, we wouldn't stay anywhere else.
