Stayed last week for two nights on a work trip. As a Platinum member of Marriott Rewards, was offered a suite. Was a nice room but only one tv in the two room suite so you couldn't lay in bed and watch tv. Not very well thought out. In addition, had to call for maintenance to come up and fix the air conditioning. Even after they worked on it for 30 minutes, it still didn't get the room very cool.

Went to the pool one morning. I was literally the ONLY person at the pool. (I even asked at the front desk to make sure it was open as it looked closed...) They had a handful of chairs (less than 20) and most appeared to be broken or severely worn. Entire area was dirty and mildewy. I had lunch at the pool bar. Food was ok but service was very good. Very nice staff.

Breakfast at the Marriott Cafe was mediocre. Large buffet with all the basics but nothing worth noting.

Went to the gym and left almost immediately. There were no ellipticals. Two treadmills but both were rickety and not well kept. Gym had a really bad smell.

The only shining point for this hotel was the staff. All (except one) went out of their way to take great care. (The only exception was the hostess in the concierge lounge on my first night 10-10-12 who was more interested in talking with her boyfriend at 10pm when I came in for some cold water and didn't even stand up or acknowledge that I entered. I was the only guest there.)

My work colleagues stayed at the Hilton up the road which was much nicer. Went to Roy's there for dinner and it was awesome. No comparison between Hilton and Marriott. Should have stayed there but chose Marriott instead to get my points. Not worth it!

The lobby and staff are great. They updated the lobby but forgot about the rooms. Furniture, carpet, and bathrooms are circa 1980's. Heavy mold and mildew in shower. Wallpaper peeling off the wall and paint blistering from the moisture. All these conditions lead to a musty, moldy feeling. The carpet is moist and the staff was kind enough to bring up a fan to assist in removing the wetness feeling from the room. I realize it is a beach front hotel, but the sliding glass doors need updating to assist in reducing the moisture in the rooms. Don't bring a black light, you'll never stay. The dry sauna will give you splinters, it needs a complete restoration.
Staff was very pleasant and the location is fair. I have stayed at Marriott's for years and this is the worst one yet.
Wait for a complete renovation before considering staying here, or just lower your standards to a basic Hotel 6 that cost a fortune.

The staff went out of their way to ensure my satisfaction. Great service in the executive lounge. The hotel is in a good location by the beach not far from shopping and the airport. The central location makes it easy to get anywhere on island for scuba, golf, a boonie stomp (hiking) or to the military bases.

Marriottt would be mad to attach his name to this tin down unfriendly unprofessional hotel. In disrepair unfriendly wait staff felt like 3rd world hotel. We renamed it the moldy marriott. Location was amazing. Good was poor. Fitness center run down.
