I won't be able to write enough about how nice this tour was.
Cost = $95 PP for the morning 4 hour sail.
First you MUST realize that any wildlife you see is not guaranteed. It is, after all, just that - wildlife. A company can't predict what you are going to see / not see.
We went on a Thursday and our captain was Ann and the marine biologist was Kara. Both were great!
The price included all kinds of breakfast items (bagels, muffins, cold drinks) and snack bars.
During the first third of the trip you snorkel near Makala Beach (on the leeward side). Lots of turtles were in the reef that day. Snorkel time is about 30-45 minutes. Water was kind of cold but it was January when we went.
During the second third of the trip we looked for humpback whales and saw some (some close and some far away). The whales only come to Hawaii between Dec & April so keep this in mind depending on when you visit the island.
The last third of the trip was the 'swim with dolphins' portion. We did see dolphins and did get to swim in their pod with them. Only for about 5-6 minutes (because something spooked them and they swam away) but it was well worth it!! You need to be a good swimmer and a fairly experienced snorkeler or this portion of the trip will not be for you. The marine biologist will advise you that dolphins will NOT swim to you - you must (without splashing too much) swim agressivly out to where they are at. My husband and I were the only two who were able to swim with them. The rest of our group did not listen. They waited near the boat for the dolphins to come close to them. It doesn't work that way. The marine biologist encouraged you to swim parrallel with them so that they didn't feel threatened.
The boat was clean and the harbor was very easy to find on the leeward side. The tours website has very detailed directions.
