Although I know nothing is guaranteed, I believe being "professional" guides some common sense should have used in this case. We arrived very early in the morning to set sail on a beautiful but very windy morning. As the boat was a launching, and the captain was not very pleasant I might add, the marine biologist indicated that the surf was up already and it was going to be a bumpy ride. Perhaps they should have rescheduled at that point but we carried on. A couple of minutes out we knew it was very high seas and perhaps we should have turned back to go another day. We carried on only to be told that it was too rough and we would probably not see much in the way of wildlife that day. Perhaps a percentage should have been given back to those who paid good money to see wildlife rather than a bumpy sea voyage. I was told when I phoned that they knew of five resident pods of dolphins and sights were 98%, we didn't even get to snorkel much because of the high seas, so viewing wildlife was non-existant. It is a dream for my daughter to swim with dolphins and having grown up with animals of all kinds, I know nothing is ever perfect on these types of trips, but I think compensation should be administered when nothing is sighted, not even a turtle. A few fish were seen but not many as the water was so murky from the high winds. People were drowning on these shores due to the high winds but this tour group went out anyway, even though we were told if the weather was prohibitive they would rebook, but I guess money is money and they didn't care much about the people on board. Several of the kids were sick and couldn't have seen anything from the cabin below decks. Maybe they should rethink their policies on high seas.
A disgruntled tourist.
