We wanted our last day of vacation to be something special, and boy did we nail it by booking with this group! It IS a 'safari', so I was under the impression that if conditions aren't rights (weather, wildlife, etc), you may not get to actually see or get in the water with dolphins, and may have to whale watch rather than snorkel depending on weather. We visited in early January, were on the later morning excursion, and while there was some wind, the sun was out and we found hundreds of spinner dolphins. Some of the members of our group weren't following the rules too well, but at one point my family was allowed to drop into the water and float amongst the dolphins. It was magical. There were BABY dolphins. (I don't think I need to explain how cute they are)! A huge Honu (green sea turtle), and lots of colorful fish and other creatures. The staff (Jessica, Jenna and Shell were our crew) were excellent: informed, professional and fun! We also saw humpback whales and Captain Jenna was great about making the most of that experience. (She had to start her "ok, we're leaving in 1 minute" clock over quite a few times... ) The boat has a huge dry box that was big enough for everyone's belongings (towels, etc).
If you have a shorty wet suit, bring it. Otherwise, in winter, rent one from them for $10 - especially for kids. You can spend a LOT more time in the water enjoying the experience if you're not cold.
A choice of lunch entree was included and was pretty darn good - we all had the chicken tenders meal and they seemed homemade to us. They also have snacks available for purchase and shave ice. Their shuttle pick up from and back to our hotel in Waikiki was handy and on time. Plan on being gone at least 5 hours if you're coming from downtown Honolulu.
We would definitely recommend this excursion to others, and would go again if we end up in Oahu anytime soon!
