Owner description: One of the top Hawaii attractions includes the Polynesian Cultural Center, which features a 42-acre facility on the North Shore of Oahu. Founded in 1963, the nonprofit Center was created so that the students of nearby Brigham Young University Hawaii could work their way through college by sharing their island heritage with visitors. The students come from an area that covers approximately 12 million square miles of the Pacific Ocean.

“Polynesian Cultural Center - Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2010

We spent 2.5 weeks on Oahu with our two kids ages 20months and 4 years and I have to say this was one of the best attractions we took in! I was a skeptic at first, but we arrived at noon and stayed til 9pm for all the shows and dinner! The performers were enthusiastic and very professional. I would recommend this attraction to anyone with kids, you will love it!

“Great way to spend a day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2010

..or half a day, since they open in the afternoon. The hours of operation dont give enough time to fully enjoy all the activities in all the 'villages' (Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji, Tahiti, Tonga, New Zealand). The Samoa village was the most fun. The host was more like a GREAT stand up comic than a speaker. He made everything fun. The Tahiti village turned out to be a bit of a disappointment as some of the organizers still hadn't arrived when we got there. The afternoon Canoe parade was great. The tram ride into Laie can be left out to save time for other more interesting activities.

If you buy online your ticket is valid for entry into the villages for five more days, this would've been nice if the center was near Honolulu but a nearly two hour bus ride discourages plans of any return trip. It would've been better as an all day event, though the late start gives you the chance to stop at one of the scenic spots on the way. I'd suggest Kahana bay.

The show 'Ha - Breath of life' was entertaining though the story line wasn't very interesting. The choreography was excellent.

Overall it was a nice experience, but not worth doing again.

“Keep an open mind ..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2010

It would be easy to be jaded at the Polynesian Cultural Center. It's not the high tech entertainment at every turn that we have become used to in our lives. If you watch passively, you will learn something. If you are active, you will have some very enjoyable new experiences. You will be wowed by the simplicity.

We opted for the Super Ambassador option. It was expensive. It was only worth it because 1) we had a wonderful personal guide; 2) we were on holidays and didn't want to have to make any plans or make decisions; and 3) we could take as long as we wanted at any particular place as we always had front row seats waiting for us. We engaged with the staff and learned a lot. (We have traveled the world - including to parts of Polynesia and we still learned a lot!)

The evening show Ha - the Breath of Life - was wonderful. It was pouring rain and still the performers managed to take us into the world of different Polynesian nations.

We also enjoyed the Imax. It was beautifully filmed.

If you're staying in Waikiki, opt for the shuttle. It is a long day but restful to have someone drive you home late at night.

“Look for coupons!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2010

We went on a Friday in November, and it seemed like some of the activities were not running. Also, the Aloha Book of coupons (which we got at the front desk of our hotel), has a coupon for buy one adult, get a child free. They were also running a special rate, so we had to choose between the coupon and the special rate.

“Exceeded our expectations! Good for all ages! Fun Activities!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2010

Didn't make it out here our first time to Oahu so this time it was a must! We visited The Polynesian Cultural Center on our recent Thanksgiving week vacation. What fun we had! We were two families that included a 5-year-old and a 15-year-old, which both had a blast! The facilitators at each activity were friendly and fun and readily available as soon as we walked up. We tried fishing, bowling, tops, checkers, hula, spear throwing & poi, wow! We loved Cap from Samoa! Boat ride was great, food was good. Overall excellent time! The experience exceeded our expectations and the price was right. (booked on-line and saved 5% too).
