“Beautiful!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

Second time at Ko Olina...my family had a blast. The grounds are beautiful and perfectly maintained. We spent all our time on the beach..it was perfect. Loved snorkeling the different lagoons. Saw the turtles in lagoon 2 several times. Longboards has great food and excellent frozen mai tais...hope to return again soon. Make sure you see the sunset..perfect location to watch for the green flash!

Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club is elegance incarnate. Rooms and villas are spacious with fabulous views. Enjoy walking distance access to sister property JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa and the Ko Olina Golf Club and Marina. A great Luau and Fabulous Drinks !

Hailing from Orange County, California, I know a thing or two about planned communities. The site of this timeshare property has been carefully planned and carved out of the land and sea. If you like your nature on the wild side, this property isn't for you. But if you like perfect half-moon-shaped cove-like beaches -- a whole series of them running up and down the beach -- then you'll enjoy the man-made nature of this property.

Pros:
Lushly landscaped
Away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu but not too far to go there for dinner
Close to convenient shopping areas to stock your kitchen with

Cons:
Fee for parking (will never understand why they do this, other than "they can")
Potential negative effects of the Disney mega-resort next door
Ocean views from your room *may* be less than gorgeous owing to marina and parking lots nearby

We are owners at this resort so have stayed here over 7 times in the last several years. The reason we always return is the sheer beauty and calm relaxed feel of the place. Although the beaches are man made, they are perfect for swimming since there are really no waves. We love walking along the path in the evenings or early mornings too. Not much in the way of night life, if that is what you are looking for Waikiki is a better spot. We always rent a car to go into the city for more action, but prefer staying at KoOlina. The grounds are very well kept and beautiful, the staff is always pleasant and helpful in every way. If you get a room with the full kitchen you can save a lot as food in the area is a little pricy.

We recently returned from our 4th visit to the Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club. The Ko Olina continues to impress us. We upgraded to a 3 bedroom, ocean view room and the view from the 10th floor was spectacular. The grounds are beautiful, the beaches are fantastic, the rooms have every thing you need for a comfortable stay and the staff is friendly. There is not a lot around here but that's why we like it. We do not like the craziness of Waikiki even though it's fun to visit for the day. We shopped at the nearby Kapolei stores for food for the week. WalMart, Target, Costco, Safeway and restaurants are all a very close drive away. There are not a lot of places to eat at the resort...we love having dinner at Longboards at sunset and we have never tried Chuck's Steakhouse. Down the road across from Disney's Aulani you can find a couple restaurants and an ABC type market/deli with very good sandwiches. Try the Monkeypod restaurant there...the food was sooo good! These places are within walking distance but we drove and parked for free in the parking lot close by.

Even though the resort is on a quieter side of Oahu you are still not too far from anything. Yes, if you're out at rush hour you will hit traffic but we tried to travel at non busy times. It took us about 30 minutes to get to the Dole Plantation, about 40 minutes to get to the North Shore (stop at Opal Thai restaurant for the best meal ever and some shaved ice at Matsumoto's after!), visit the turtle beach and Giovanni's shrimp truck (also on the North Shore) and a drive around the island is easily done in an afternoon. We stopped at the Byodo-In Temple on the eastern side and it was amazingly beautiful! So many fun things to do while visiting Oahu and coming back every afternoon to the Ko Olina made our trip even better. If you get a chance, go to the Fia Fia Luau on site...it's a fun show, the sunset is gorgeous and the food's not bad. Can't wait for our next visit!

If you don't want the bustle of Waikiki then this quiet end of the island is perfect. The rooms are modern and have every amenity you would expect at home. We stayed in a 2 bedroom non lock off because we did not want to worry about having to secure 2 exits since we have young children. The view from the oceanfront room is simply heavenly and definitely worth the additional expense if a view is important to you. The non lock off room also gives you a better chance of being in the newer building. The on-site luau is great fun. The luau food is not great but everyone in our group loved the show. We'll return as soon as we can.
