“Review of Ocean View Guest Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

This review pertains to the ocean view guest room we stayed in for the first three nights of our stay on Oahu.

The Pros:
-We were surprised that the view was truly "Ocean View" (not partial or obscured) and might be even been described as "Ocean Front" by some establishments. We stayed in Hale Naia tower and our room overlooked the barbecue area, ocean, and lagoon.
-The resort grounds are beautiful, well-designed and relaxing. The open air hotel lobby is an especially nice place to spend some time.
-The pools are great for families, with several temperature options.
-The Ko Olina resort area is a beautiful place to stay. A scenic path weaves between the lagoons, sunsets are breathtaking, and the area has a decidedly more relaxed atmosphere than Waikiki. The Ko Olina Beach Club seems to be an economical choice for staying in the area.
-Service was always excellent.
-Kitchenette was surprisingly well appointed with toaster, dishes, dish soap, dish towels, etc.

Cons:
-The guest room (not a villa) was very small and cramped. Traveling with a toddler, we end up spending a significant portion of time in the room due to naps, etc. so this is an important consideration for us.
-The lanai is also very small and cramped, barely large enough to hold the table and two chairs.
-The decor is nothing to write home about.
-On-site dining is overpriced and disappointing in quality, although this seems to be common in the area.

Bottom Line:
-If we return to Oahu, it is likely that we would stay at this resort again, but would opt to spend the extra money for a villa for the full kitchen, extra space, and nicer lanai.

This was by far the nicest resort we have ever stayed at. We stayed for three nights the week after Easter in a king mountain view studio. Our 16th floor unit overlooked a beautiful golf course. We had a balcony perfect for the two of us to enjoy our morning coffee. The bed was so comfy and the room was clean and quiet. The grounds were gorgeous- lovely flowers, waterfalls, and ponds. We mainly used the reflection pool, which was nice and quiet compared to the other two pools. We sat up near the water overlooking the Pacific and the lagoon and it was an amazing site. We were able to snorkel in the lagoon and saw a variety of fish. The resort was super busy but never appeared crowded. There is so much property for famiies to spread out and play, and there were a variety of free activities. We walked through the other two properties nearby, and liked the Beach Club so much better. Wonderful employees who always greeted us with a smile. We will stay at this property again upon our return to Hawaii.

We really enjoyed this resort. The property is beautiful with a man made lagoon out front.

The rooms are spacious and well equipped. There are BBQ to use through out the property which was nice.

It has great pools for the kids. One is an actiivy pool where the kids can play volleyball or basketball and at the other end there is a shallow sandy bottom for toddlers. There is also an quiet pool for relaxing, mostly adults. Then there is another pool with a waterslide and grotto. This is where we spent most of our time. It is really large and a great place to hang out.

The only downside to the resort is there are not many choices for restaurants without driving.

Awsome place to relax! Away from the city and the crowds of Waikiki Beach. When you want to see Waikiki or the North Shore it's not that long of a drive to either place! Can head to the North Shore anytime but to get to Waikiki you will get caught in rush hour traffic if you head there at 6:00-9:00am or 3:00-6:00pm. "Enjoy & Relax!!"

Room Tip: Just used rooms to sleep so it didn't matter to us :-)

We spent 10 days at the Ko Olina this month. As always, the Marriott property was gorgeous, the staff all friendly and helpful. The villas are well-appointed with everything you need to feel at home. We loved the balconies that overlooked the marina and ocean. We spent a lot do time enjoying the views with coffee in the mornings and wine in the evenings.

The luau was a great experience, and was right on the property. I enjoyed swimming in the lagoon, and feeling pretty confident that there wouldn't be any chance encounters with sharks. The water was on the cold side since it was still their winter.

They have three pools which was nice. The only complaint I had was that the Reflection pool was supposed to be a pool where there would be peace and quiet, but it really didn't happen so I was a little bummed by that. After a couple of days I gave up on the pool altogether, and I am a pool person at heart, so that was disappointing.

The resort is outside of Honolulu, so it's on the quiet side and you need a car to do any sightseeing or shopping. Some people like the remoteness of the location, but there isn't really that much to do in the evening if you don't have a car to travel to Honolulu.

The grounds are well thought out for people who like to walk or take a run in the mornings. The beach walk spans the three resorts that are in the coves.

All in all, it's a beautiful, peaceful place to chill out.

Beautiful, loved every second of it! Excellent for families.the lagoons are ideal to experience the pacific without an undertow. Pools great, workout very good. Has grills to use. We had the two bedroom and the second bedroom had a full pullout coach. Our three daughters were more than comfortable. Best was sitting on our balcony each evening watching the sunsets.

It began with our VIP treatment at check-in at your Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club registration desk and continued throughout our entire stay. Everything was absolutely perfect from the staff to the amazing property grounds.
We’ve stayed at many vacation properties in Hawaii and other vacation spots, but the Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club offered us anything and everything you could ask for.
Our 2 bedroom villa was well appointed, beautifully designed, incredibly clean and virtually soundproof. If we needed anything like a 2nd coffee maker, it was there instantly. Our view from our room of the pools and ocean was top notch which made the balcony my morning spot to get some work done, check my emails etc. while soaking in the best of Ko Olina Beach.
The pools, waterslide and waterfalls provided a great place for the family to play all day and into the evenings. The beaches were always clean and well groomed with plenty of chairs to use.
The entire property is well maintained and very natural to Oahu’s surroundings…unlike some of the other resorts nearby that look and feel over-processed. When you’re at Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club…you can’t help but relax and get in the Hawaii spirit.
The valet staff was always on it and always had my car ready shortly after I called. The convenience store is well stocked and the friendly staff was always ready to serve. Our housekeeper, really shined with an extremely positive attitude and she always delivered by keeping our home away from home spotless and well stocked.
We will definitely be back and I can’t wait to return to re-charge my batteries at this amazing property again and again.

Room Tip: Hale Nai’a Tower is the best tower at this resort!
