“Just go its a Hawaiian experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

I went twice. I went with my mum, unfortunately my brother fell ill so hawaiidiscount.com was good enough to reschedule his ticket to another night, I decided t o go again. (I went twice within three days!) first tour guide Chad was a tool!! A young foolish boy who tried to be funny but was more patronising and arrogant. (His sarcasm annoyed most of the bus. He'd only been there 1 year). Second trip with Reno was amazing! Exact same jokes and stories as Chad (must be standard) like "two peanuts cross the road.....one was a-salted", however Reno was sweet and sincere in his approach! The Luau is the cheapest in Honolulu (book through the site above it's only $58!!). The food is very standard (eat before you go! The meat has a funny taste actually all the food has a funny taste both times!) the three free alcoholic drinks and unlimited soft drinks are good. The show is nice! Standard commercial dancing of all nations in the pacific. I recommend you go. I feel you wont get a better Luau for the price. The crowd is always fun and entertaining! They do rush you out as soon as the show finishes.

“Had a blast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013 via mobile

Had a girlfriend from the mainland come in town and we took her here . Living in hawaii I've actually never been to a "luau" but I was excited to try. This place would be kinda hard to find its in a strand location but still pretty! I believe you get 3 alcohol drinks complimentary and it was great! Food was so so but it was great every where else. Had a blast here! You sit at long picnic tables with a bunch of people, the show was great. Just so much fun! Loved it !

“Best Overall Value for Luau in Hawaii”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

I lived in Hawaii for three years, and have visited the island many times since. Having tried all the Luau "experiences", there is no doubt that Germaine's is the best. First, the location: It has 100 acres at Barbers point, which is on the beach. This is secluded and feels like its in the country, much better than on a hotel roof or walled off "garden" in the middle of the City. Bus transport to the Luau is free and highly recommended, as it is part of the entertainment package. Three Tropical Drinks are provided; buy the plastic cup for $10 and those are huge drinks, otherwise they are small drinks, but more drink coupons are $5 each, so it probably works out about the same either way. The Luau isn't really about the food, it is about the show, and Germaine's has a good show--the fire dancer is a THIRD GENERATION Germain'e employee--the girls are beautiful, the men often incredibly buff--they are friendly people and will visit with you before and after the show for photographs. Germain'e has been around forever: The Dancers graduate to bus hosts or bartenders when they are too old to perform, and it is a generational enterprise. I am having trouble understanding anyone who rates this experience low and complains it is "touristy" -- Folks, unless you work at Germaine's, you are likely a tourist, and this is set up to entertain you. And it does a great job. Let's be clear on the concept--do you really think Texans still ride to work on horses with six guns? Or Hawaiin women wear grass skirts and Coconuts? But it is fun to see either. Food is an all you can eat buffet of Hawaiin fare. Pig cooked tradional style buried in a fire pit with hot lava rocks. You might find tickets on living social or groupon, if not just google discount tickets to Germaine's Luau and you can get in for 10-20 dollars less than full price, depending on whether you are doing this last minute or not.

“Germaine's, a great authentic Luau in Honolulu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

While staying in Honolulu in December we wanted to experience an authentic Luau. When we asked the hotel for a recommendation, they gave us several names; but said that Germaine's was one of the most authentic, so we booked a reservation and the bus picked us up at the hotel. It was about a thirty minute ride from the hotel, but really worth it. The bus driver said, "don't worry about missing anything because nothing starts until the last bus arrives". After the last bus arrived, they began the ritual of digging the roasted pig out of the pit in the ground, that had been roasting in coals for fifteen hours. When it was carved, a delicious buffet was served; and the roast pork was really great. During the dinner we were entertained by a variety of great entertainment, including hula dancing; and the highlight was the dancer juggling two lighted torches, with fire on both ends of each.
I would highly recommend Germaine's
