I spent a lot of time planning this trip, finding and requesting a great room. At checkin they had gotten my request and we were early, they said they had a great room but it would be a few hours before it was ready, we dropped our bags and wondered around the resort for a while, then headed to Target for some essentials, got a text at Target that our room was ready. We booked an Island View Studio, which is one of the DVC rooms. I had asked for a high floor with a room # ending in 73 or 79, we got 1479 which has a partial (excellent IMO) Ocean View with a balcony, it was outstanding,

My only complaints are as follows, the restaurants are horribly overprices and lacking in quality, staying in Florida at WDW has spoiled us with good food, these are the same prices, but the quality is very subpar. Also housekeeping for some reason took\threw away our sons stuffed animal while we were at dinner, as we walked out we made him put it in the room, when we got back housekeeping was leaving our room for turndown, we got our son ready for bed and his beloved Monkey was gone. I called housekeeping and went to the desk, nobody seemed overly concerned or willing to help, they only took a lost item request form. I know of other resorts that would grab an item from a gift shop in this situation to help ease the tension and help the situation, we were offered nothing and were not even really believed it seemed.

Overall the resort is phenomenal, the pools and everything are amazing. The staff in general was great, the food stinks though. Go across the street to Monkeypod for happy hour for half priced appetizers and cheap pizza's, the Ravioli was outstanding there.

Room Tip: Ask for a high up room, if booking a DVC studio go Island View ask for a high floor ending in 73/77

My wife and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at Aulani. What a treat! The resort is absolutely spectacular! Beautiful beach, perfectly landscaped grounds and pool areas. Lots of things for both adults and kids to do. And, most importantly, except for the usual attention to detail, you'd have a hard time knowing that you were on a Disney property.

We had a studio oceanfront room (DVC members) that overlooked the lazy river and the lagoon. Perfect spot to watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. Our room was clean, comfortable, and provided everything that we need. As with all DVC studio units, we had a microwave and mini-fridge, and were able to visit a nearby supermarket to stock up on breakfast items. So we ate on our balcony each morning, drinking pure Kona coffee (wow!) and fresh Hawaiian fruits and veggies at much lower than hotel prices.

Staff was, of course, friendly and helpful. If you're planning a stay on Oahu, and don't want to deal with the hassle and traffic of Waikiki, this is the place to be!

My family and I are always looking forward to going "home" and Aulani did not disappoint! From the minute we pulled up and were cheerfully greeted to the time we left a week later, we didn't have to worry about a thing. I did the online checkin and they were ready for us at the doors, keys and leis in hand for everyone! They took our bags and we were off to explore this beautiful resort. Our room was spacious and comfortable as usual with views of the lawn where they had movie nights and shows. Also had a partial view of the ocean.

Disney always finds a way to have activities for every age and they do that here. If you want to just relax and sit in the sun, grab a chair on the beach by the lagoon and just enjoy the view. If you want to hang in a pool, well they have plenty of those to choose from. Want to go snorkeling without worrying about the current pulling you out to sea, they have Rainbow Reef in the middle of the resort pools for that!

If you choose to have dinner at one of the resorts two big restaurants, make reservations well in advance as they do get busy. If it rains, your wait time will increase so be prepared to wait. We had a 6pm dinner reservation at Makahiki and didn't get seated until 7. Some people did get frustrated and chose to voice their opinions but what else do you have to do that time of night and the staff can only do so much without going table to table asking people to hurry up eat and leave. Just have patience you will be seated as quickly as possible. Or if you don't want to go thru the trouble, visit Ulu and take it to go. Disney also offers private family dinners (for vacation club members) that you can order in the morning to have delivered after 5pm that afternoon.

Bottom line is that if you want a beautiful, family friendly place to spend your Hawaiian vacation, you will not be disappointed with Aulani!

Nearly perfect stay... One warning to Aulani guests or visitors. Stay clear of Makihiki restaurant. Its an extremely expensive (even for Disney/Hawaii) buffet. Cost is $43 a head for adults and the quality is average or slightly below average.

I have nothing else bad to say about this resort. The design of the building and layout of the grounds is outstanding. Disney's typical attention to detail is clearly evident. Beautiful koa wood trim abounds. The staff are always accessible, even during the busiest times and very friendly and helpful.

We traveled with family and friends this time and stayed in a grand villa. An absolutely wonderful suite. See included pics.

Almost immediately upon walking into the lobby of Aulani we were captivated by its beauty. Throw in the gracious warmth of the staff and the soothing Hawaiian music in the background and we readily felt at ease and inspired. It is hard to describe the resort without sounding like you are over-hyping it. The grounds of this resort are immaculate and immense. The pool area is an attraction in itself. The restaurants are located in settings that are postcard-worthy and the prices were not outrageous. It felt like a dream vacation without every leaving the resort. All were true from our perspective and we are eager to go back. Many describe the resort as being situated outside the action of Waikiki and Honolulu, but after driving in the traffic near those areas, I say it is not a criticism in the slightest but a major advantage. The Disney touch is evident in the level of detail and the theming, you will enjoy hearing many of your Disney song favorites with a Hawaiian flair, and the characters can be found if you look for them - but are never in the forefront. Seek and you shall find is a good motto for this resort experience.

This was our first trip to Aulani but not our last. The property is located on a beautiful lagoon with great pools and amenities. Even though it was an all adult vacation, there were plenty of activities for children and the adult only pool was very nice & quiet. Would definitely recommend this hotel for families or adults. Money Pod and Just Tacos across the street had good food.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views.

Having traveled to DisneyWorld a handful of times, I had an expectation of what to expect from a Disney property. This definitely exceeded all expectations. The property was flawless. The front desk staff and those welcoming into the property were incredible friendly. The resort amenities were perfect - we enjoyed the pool area as well as the beach (although without kids we definitely prefer the beach as it was more quiet and the lagoon made for a nice/quiet experience without the crashing waves). We were able to do the Starlit Hui show, which was good for kids. Dinner at AMA AMA was amazing. Had the catch of the day and it was perfect! Walking distance to items over in Ko Olina for a quick drink at Monkeypods or picking up soda at the ABC Store across the street. The sunsets there were also amazing - way better than Honolulu. Spa was phenominal. Make sure if you go you spend plenty of time outside enjoying the hydrotherapy features. Heard many people say it was the best massage/facial they have ever had and it was certainly very good. Would love to stay again and hopefully will some day!
